Flowery Branch 49, Gainesville 38: Quarterback Jaybo Shaw led the Falcons back from 21 points down in the second quarter. The senior ran for 235 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries and completed 14-of-21 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. His 16-yard touchdown pass to senior Tracy Sykes with 4:52 left in the game gave Flowery Branch the lead for good.
The victory was the second in as many years for the Falcons (6-1) over the Red Elephants. Gainesville (4-3) lost its third straight.
North Hall 49, White County 7: The fifth-ranked Trojans improved to 6-0 on the season in winning their Region 7A-AAA subregion opener at Cleveland. White County fell to 3-3.
Riverside Military Academy 21, Mount de Sales 6: The Eagles improved to 3-3 with a home victory in GISA play.
West Hall 21, Pickens 12: Daniel Drummond scored on runs of 30 and 10 yards to lead the Spartans (2-5). Drummond finished the game with 20 carries for 149 yards. Junior Marquise Stephens added 111 yards on 16 carries and three catches for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Chestatee 47, East Hall 14: Ethan Souther connected with Spencer Grunenefelder for two touchdowns, and Jo Jo Sweet ran for two scores for the War Eagles (5-1). Sweet, Ben Souther and Peyton Bazzell combined for 214 yards rushing.
Habersham Central 42, Dacula 7: Tavarres King caught seven passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Raiders (5-1).
Buford 55, Holy Innocents’ 14: Quarterback Twoey Hosch threw a pair of touchdown passes as the top-ranked Wolves improved to 7-0.
Commerce 36, Social Circle 35: Colton Brown scored on a 15-yard run with 2:23 to play to lift the Tigers (5-2). Commerce quarterback Reuben Haynes led the Tigers with 19 carries for 140 yards and a touchdown.
Jefferson 41, Bremen 28: Virgil Appleby rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Dragons (4-2).
Lumpkin County 23, Gilmer 10: Cameron Jackson scored two touchdowns, one on a 75-yard run, to pace the Indians (4-2).
Banks County 42, Rabun County 21: Justin Beasley rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass to lead the Leopards (2-4) in Homer.
