Prep roundup: Chestatee falls to Lady Hawks

Chestatee High’s Daniela Sotelo took a throw-in from Kasey Smith and fired the ball into the left hand corner of the goal for its only score in a 4-1 loss to Mill Creek on Tuesday night in Hoschton.

Despite several counter attacks in the second half by Chestatee (0-2), Mill Creek (1-2) was able to score a pair of late goals to secure the win.

Chestatee visits Monroe Area on Friday night in Walton County.

Chestatee’s Alejandro Gonzalez scored in the 70th minute on a rebound off of the keeper on Tuesday night in Hoschton.

War Eagles (1-1) goalie Tyler Esson had six saves.

Chestatee visits Dalton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night.

West Hall boys 1, North Forsyth 1
Rudy Vazquez scored off a Juan Arbelaez free kick in the 73rd minute on Tuesday night in Oakwood.

West Hall (0-1-2) goalie Jamie King had six saves.

West Hall plays host to White County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

TENNIS

Gainesville boys 4, North Hall 1
Gainesville’s Andreo Belch and Ryan Joiner won their singles matches to lead the Red Elephants past North Hall on Tuesday night.

Joiner defeated Eli Cicero of North Hall in straight sets (6-3, 6-2), while Belch defeated Jim Butts in three sets (6-1, 3-6, 6-4).

North Hall’s Clayton Nedza was the lone Trojan to win his match defeating Witt Carmen, 6-4, 6-7, 7-5.

The doubles pair of Luis Hokayem/Robbie Bilbrough and Doug McDuff/Drew Denning also were victorious for the Red Elephants.

North Hall visits West Hall at 4 p.m. on Thursday in Oakwood.

North Hall girls 5, Gainesville 0
Lauren Hodges and Hayley Crowder won in straight sets as North Hall shut out Gainesville on Tuesday night.

Hodges defeated Lyndsay Mercer, 6-2, 6-3 and Crowder defeated Alee Boychuck 6-2, 6-4. Gainesville’s No. 1 seed Cara Reece also won her singles match, defeating Stephanie Olson 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.

Lauren Bolten and Courtney Wiley won at No. 1 doubles, and Rachel Langman and Jessica Butts won at No. 2 doubles for the Lady Trojans.

GOLF

North Hall boys 164, Johnson 168
Jimmy Lloyd shot a 39 and Derek Watson carded a 40 as the Trojans (1-0) won their first match of the season on Tuesday at Royal Lakes.

Grant Cagle (39) and Kevin Bohn (42) led the Knights.

North Hall plays host to Oconee County on Feb. 27 at Chatahoochee Golf Course.
