If the Warriors (6-3, 3-1 Region 7A-AAA) defeat Lumpkin County on Friday, White County will advance to the Class AAA playoffs for the first time in school history.
"We’re going to take this week at practice to get ready for Lumpkin County," White County coach Gregg Segraves said.
White County had a 23-13 lead in the fourth quarter and was threatening to score again until the Warriors’ (6-3, 3-1 Region 7A-AAA) tailback fumbled on the 1-yard line. Gilmer’s (2-6, 0-4) defensive lineman Johnathan Henson returned it for a 100-yard touchdown.
White County quarterback Tyler Norman finished the game 7 of 16 for 76 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 56 yards on nine carries.Eli McCallister added 62 yards rushing and Chantz Segraves finished the game with two passes for 52 yards.
Gilmer visits East Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
