Prep football scoreboard: Wolves bounce back, blank Decatur

Class AA’s fourth-ranked Buford football team rebounded from its 28-21 loss last week against Lovett by shutting out Decatur 28-0 on Friday at Tom Ridden Stadium.

Senior fullback Jessel Curry led the Wolves defensively with a pair of interceptions, both of which Buford capitalized on with touchdowns. Curry also had a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the third.

The Wolves (3-1, 1-1 Region 6-AA) rushed for 176 yards and had 234 yards of total offense.

Buford visits Avondale at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Avondale Estates.

LINCOLN COUNTY 20, COMMERCE 12: Lincoln County quarterback Franklin Sherman hit Devonte Wright for a 6-yard touchdown pass and secured the win with a 3-yard run in the second half Friday in Commerce.

Deon Brock scored on a 15-yard run to take the lead early in the third for Commerce (1-3).

The Tigers play host to Athens Academy at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 38, PRAISE CHRISTIAN 14: Quarterback Joe Boonstra had 150 passing yards and three touchdowns, 80 rushing yards and a touchdown and a 70-yard touchdown off an interception to lead the Chargers to win over Praise Christian Academy on Friday night in Gainesville.

North Georgia Christian visits Twiggs Academy at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Jeffersonville.

DAWSON COUNTY 6, RABUN COUNTY 0: In the second quarter Ethan Brown pitched a pass to senior tight end Grant Brown for a 45-yard game-winning touchdown in Dawson County’s win over Rabun County on Friday in Tiger.

The teams combined for 19 penalties for 155 yards.

Senior Daniel Campbell led Rabun County (1-4, 0-4 Region 8-AA) with 32 of its 34 carries rushing for 181 yards.
Dawson County (1-4, 1-3) plays host to Oglethorpe County at 7:30 p.m. next Friday.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL 42, WINDER-BARROW 35: Habersham Central junior David Griffin rushed 26 times for 282 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Raiders to a win over the Bulldogs on Friday in Winder.

Kevin Allison had 16 carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns for the Raiders (3-2, 3-2 Region 8-AAAA).

Habersham Central plays host to Madison County at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

NORTH OCONEE 47, BANKS COUNTY 0: The Leopards weren’t able to stop the Warriors in their shutout defeat Friday in Bogart.

North Oconee quarterback Brandon Whitlock had 11 carries for 105 yards, one a 60-yard touchdown run, as the Warriors held Banks County (2-3, 2-2 Region 8-AA) without a first down until the third quarter.

Freshman quarterback Nick Coldin rushed for a 57-yard run late in the game for the Titans.

Banks County plays host to East Jackson at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Homer.

GILMER 12, LUMPKIN COUNTY 10: The Indians lost to Gilmer on Friday in Elijay. Lumpkin County (2-2, 0-1 Region 7A-AAA) plays host to Chestatee at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Dahlonega.

DADE COUNTY 66, TOWNS COUNTY 12: Towns County lost to Dade County on Friday in Trenton. The Indians visit Hebron in at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Dacula.

EAST JACKSON 42, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 20: Aaron Gambrah and Bryan Kerekes each scored touchdowns in the Eagles’ loss to East Jackson on Friday in Commerce.

The Eagles (2-3, 2-2 Region 8-AA) plays host to Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
