North Hall volleyball advances in playoffs
Lady Trojans play host to Dalton in second round

The North Hall High volleyball team went on the road and came away with a 25-16-25-20, 25-12 win against Shaw in the opening round of the Class AAA state tournament on Saturday in Columbus. With the win, the Lady Trojans (27-13) advance to play host to Dalton  Tuesday at a time to be announced.

“We’re excited to be playing another match,” North Hall coach Emi Hughes said. “We came ready to play (Saturday) and were clicking.”

Kathryn Bell, a senior, had 25 assists, two kills, and 10 straight serves during the victory in the first game. Lauren Gregory had eight kills and five digs, and middle hitter Sarah Paschall added 16 digs, four kills and three blocked shots.

Madison Copeland had 10 kills for the Lady Trojans, McKenna Rushton had three kills, two blocked shots, and Mary Kate Rushton added five kills and a blocked shot.

Megan Cox added 11 digs and an assist for North Hall, and Jenn Owen added five digs.

“We jumped ahead early which was key and had tremendous senior leadership,” Hughes said.

JEFFERSON FALLS IN FIRST ROUND: Amanda Daniel had 13 assists and three kills for the Jefferson High volleyball team in a 25-17, 25-16, 25-20 loss to St. Vincent’s in the opening round of the Class AA state tournament on Saturday in Atlanta.

Taylor Cramsey added eight kills for the Lady Dragons, and Eden Starnes had four kills. Cassie Metcalf had three aces and three kills for Jefferson.

With the loss, Jefferson’s season is now complete.
