After two years at the helm, Bryan Richerson has resigned as the head coach of the girls basketball program at North Hall, the school announced Friday.

“He just decided he wanted to devote more time to his family,” North Hall athletic director Harold Daniel said of Richerson, who went 26-26 and won the 2009 Lanierland Championship during his brief tenure. “He said he couldn’t give 100 percent this year and decided to step aside for the better of the program.”

Taking Richerson’s place in the interim is Kristi House, who played on the 1991 final four team at North Hall and played college basketball at West Georgia. House was a student assistant at West Georgia from 1995-96 and her only previous head coaching position was at McNair Senior School in Atlanta where she coached during the 1998-99 season.

House also coached the volleyball team at North Hall and is entering her third year as a member of the girls coaching staff.
She also was an assistant for five years prior to taking a hiatus from teaching.

“I’m just excited to work with the kids at North Hall and continue the fine tradition,” House said. “There’s no better community to work in than North Hall and I’m ready to get this thing going.”

Daniels said House will be the interim coach for the entire 2010-11 season and the school will re-evaluate the position at the end of the season.

Georgia High School Association schools may begin practice for this season on Oct. 25.
