McCormack wins gold at Junior Olympics

North Hall High graduate Ty McCormack, a  Lanier Running Club member, ran a personal best time of 14 minutes, 45.02 seconds Thursday to capture a gold medal in the Young Men’s 5,000-meter run at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics in Sacramento, Calif. This adds to McCormack’s silver medal in the Steeplechase earned earlier in the week.

Erika Rucker, a rising senior at Flowery Branch High, ran a personal best 2:17.86 to place thirteenth in the 800-meter qualifier.

Rucker will compete in the 400-meter qualifier today.
