Lumpkin County hammers Flowery Branch
Indians riding nine-game winning streak in 7-AAA

Lumpkin County scored 12 runs in the second inning and finished the game with 13 hits en route to a 15-2 win in five innings against Flowery Branch on Saturday in Dahlonega. Drew Uptegraph (5-0) earned the win for the Indians (14-1, 12-1 Region 7-AAA), allowing only two runs in three innings.

Lumpkin County senior Devin Dunson had three hits to reach the 100 hit mark in his career, along with three runs driven in. Chad Fulton had a two-run triple for the Indians.

Chris Guthrie and Daniel Abercrombie each had two hits and an RBI for Lumpkin County.

Flowery Branch (11-4, 10-4) had hits from Preston Bostic, Robby Boudreau, James Mills, Brad Stone, James Wilson and Bucky Free.

Lumpkin County plays host to Creekview at 5:55 p.m. Friday in Dahlonega. Flowery Branch plays host to Pickens at 5:55 p.m. on Friday at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex.

Jefferson 6, Oglethorpe County 1

Jamie Sexton pitched six innings for the Dragons and allowed only two hits and one earned run on Saturday in Jefferson. Dragons (10-2, 6-1 Region 8-AA) senior Chris Beck was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three runs driven in. Tyler Bailey had two hits and scored one run for Jefferson. Jake Fields, Lucas Redd and Caleb Meek each added one hit for the Dragons.

Jefferson plays host to Banks County at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
