Four players scored in double figures to help West Hall defeat Grayson 76-62 to win the East Jackson Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.
Kavon Williams (21), Terrell Penland (15), Rodney Gibson (14) and Shunquez Stephens (12) led the Spartans (4-0) in a 45-point second half surge that sealed the win.
Penland was named tournament MVP.
West Hall returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to Lumpkin County.
Former GHS star shines for Bobcats
Texas State University basketball player and Gainesville High graduate Brett Benson scored 32 points and had five rebounds and three steals in a 97-96 loss to Montana on Friday.
Benson followed up that performance with 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the 3-point line Saturday night in his team’s 105-93 loss to Northern Colorado.
