HOMER — Johnson relied on its rushing attack in a 21-20 scrimmage game win against Banks County Friday in Homer. The Knights’ sophomore running back Mantevius Rucker scored two touchdowns on the night, each long carries for more than 30 yards.

“He’s going to be a great back for us this year,” Knights head coach Paul Friel said. “He read the holes and used his blockers down field.”

Mick Shannon scored Johnson’s other touchdown on a second quarter run.

“I think we’re ready to go, we just have to eliminate the fumbles,” Friel said.
“We have the intensity, we just have to eliminate the mistakes.”

Chris Porter made four completions in his debut at quarterback for the Leopards.

Zach Dale and Lyn Hester led Banks County on defense, each with two forced fumbles.

Hester also came within one yard of returning a fumble for a touchdown.
