HS Playoff Scoreboard: Chestatee girls fall to Troup, 50-34
Buford girls advance to state quarterfinals

Sam Brown led the Chestatee girls with a team-high 10 points in a 50-34 loss to Troup in the second round of the Class AAA state tournament Tuesday in LaGrange. With the loss, Chestatee's season is now complete.

Maegan Kenimer finished with nine points for the Lady War Eagles. Troup took control of the game early, leading 12-4 after the first quarter of play and stretched its lead to 27-15 by halftime.

This year, Chestatee made its third trip to the second round of the playoffs since 2009. The Lady War Eagles opened up the postseason with a 37-33 win against Gilmer last Friday in Gainesville.

Troup advances to face Columbia in the state quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Northwest Georgia Trade Center in Dalton.

BUFORD GIRLS 53, NORTH OCONEE 45: Kaela Davis led the Lady Wolves (23-7) with a team-high 23 points in the second round of the Class AA state tournament Tuesday in Buford.

MacKenzie Darrah finished with 10 points for the Lady Wolves.

After trailing 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, Buford came back outscoring North Oconee 11-8 in the second quarter to secure a two-point lead at the end of the first half.

With the win, Buford advances to play Heard County in the state quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Friday at the Northwest Georgia Trade Center in Dalton.
