Chestatee and North Hall advanced to the semifinals of the Area 8-AAA duals at Oconee County High after wins Friday night.

Chestatee will wrestle Lumpkin County (2-0 Friday) and North Hall will compete with Oconee County today, with a win for either clinching a berth in the state duals next weekend in Macon as well as a spot in the area championship match today.

As the top two seeds in the tournament, the War Eagles and Trojans had byes in the first round. Top-seeded Chestatee defeated Franklin County in the second round and North Hall took down Gainesville, which had defeated Johnson in the opening round.

Gainesville will face Stephens County today in the consolation bracket. West Hall, which defeated Lanier before falling to Oconee County, Johnson and White County, which went 1-1 Friday, will also compete today in the consolation bracket.

AREA 8-AA DUALS: Defending champions Jefferson will wrestle Jackson County and Elbert County will wrestle Banks County today in the area duals semifinals at Jefferson High. Winners will advance to the championship match later in the day as well as secure a spot in the state duals next Friday and Saturday in Macon.

Dawson County will grapple with North Oconee today in the consolation finals.

East Hall finished 2-1 Friday and will compete today in the consolation bracket.
