High school scoreboard: White County pitcher throws no-hitter

White County pitcher Luke Crumley pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead the Warriors to an 11-0 win against Johnson on Wednesday in Cleveland.

Crumley was also successful at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Kevin Frederick, Zach Messmore and David Sosebee each had two hits for White County (2-0, 1-0 Region 7-AAA).

White County visits Creekview at 5:55 p.m. Friday. Johnson (0-2, 0-1) visits East Hall at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Gainesville 10, Gilmer 0

Every hitter in the Red Elephants' starting lineup had a hit to win their first game of the season Wednesday at Ivey-Watson Field.

Erik Tarnacki was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs while picking up the win on the mound for Gainesville (1-2, 1-1 Region 7-AAA)

Sloan Strickland and Andy Edmondson each had two hits for the Red Elephants. Will Maddox scored three runs and Mark

Casper and Anderson Loggins each had two RBIs.

Gainesville plays host to West Forsyth at 5:55 p.m. today.

Lumpkin County 9, West Hall 0

Four innings was all the Indians needed to win their fourth straight Wednesday in Dahlonega.

Devin Dunson led Lumpkin County (4-0, 2-0 Region 7-AAA) at the plate with a solo home run and two RBIs. Jonathan Whitehead hit a three-run double. Chad Fulton and Will Anderson each had a hit and an RBI.

Chase Grizzle earned the win in his first varsity start, pitching all four innings and striking out five for the Indians.

Luis Delgado led West Hall with two hits.

Lumpkin County visits Flowery Branch at 5:30 p.m. today. West Hall (2-1, 0-1 Region 7-AAA) plays host to East Hall at 5:30 p.m. today.

Chestatee 6, Pickens 5

Spenser Gruenenfelder had two hits, two runs, two stolen bases and an RBI in the War Eagles' season opener Wednesday at Chestatee High.

Matt Miller also had two hits for Chestatee (1-0, 1-0 Region 7-AAA). Brantley Beck added three RBIs and Ryan Avery scored two runs.

Kevin Clifford picked up the win for War Eagles, pitching 3 2/3 innings and allowing four hits.

David Ellis led Pickens with three hits and two RBIs.

Chestatee visits North Hall at 5:30 p.m. today.

Banks County 8, Elbert County 5

An six-run fourth inning sparked the Leopards on Wednesday in Elberton.

Justin Gibbs and Zach Dale each homered for Banks County (2-1). Gibbs added three RBIs and Kasey Hudgins doubled and

had two RBIs while picking up the win on the mound for Banks County. Tyler McEntire earned the save.

Banks County visits Commerce at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Creekview 14, East Hall 0

The Vikings were shut out by Creekiew in a five-inning region game Wednesday at East Hall Park.

Greg Edwards and Nick Deaton led East Hall (2-2, 0-2 Region 7-AAA) at the plate.

East Hall visits West Hall at 5:30 p.m. today, then play host to Johnson at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

TENNIS

Chestatee boys 3, Riverside Military 2


The War Eagles won with dominant doubles play, led by the team of Scott McConnell and Justin Byers and the team of Matt Olson and Graham Kosiba, who each had wins Wednesday in Gainesville.

Adam Yates won a singles match for Chestatee (4-3). Tom Kerekes and Joe Kowalski each had singles wins for Riverside.

Chestatee plays host to Lakeview Academy at 4 p.m. today. Riverside visits Rabun County at 4 p.m. next Thursday.

Johnson girls 4, Lumpkin County 1

Cady Nix, Kamy Fields and Annabeth Peace each won in straight sets to sweep singles for the Lady Knights on Wednesday.

The team of Laura Gazaway and Katie Clark won a doubles match for Johnson.

Johnson plays host to West Forsyth at 4 p.m. today.

Lakeview Academy boys 4, Riverside Military 1 (Tuesday)

Nekhil Patel, Mike Fowler and Todd Williams each won their singles matches in straight sets for the Lions on Tuesday in Gainesville.

The team of Matt Morris and Alex Klecan and the team of Sean Casey and Jackson Beck secured the win in doubles for Lakeview.

Joe Kowalski was the lone winner for the Eagles, shutting out his opponent.

Lakeview visits Chestatee at 4 p.m today.

Dawson County boys 173, Pickens 181


Justin Denard was the low-medallist of the day with a 42 for the Tigers on Wednesday at Crystal Falls Golf Course in Dawsonville.

Wesley Bearden and Matt Christopher each shot a 43 for Dawson County (2-1). Cody Palmer carded a 45.

Dawson County will participate in the Coal Mountain Classic at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hampton Golf Course in Cumming.

Dawson County girls 98, Pickens 99

Charley Whitmire and Katie Stowers each shot a 49 as the Lady Tigers edged Pickens on Wednesday at Crystal Falls Golf Course in Dawsonville.

Amanda DeJacomo led Pickens with a 47. Ally Kattazzi followed with a 52.

Dawson County will participate in the Coal Mountain Classic at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hampton Golf Course in Cumming.

White County girls 6, Banks County 0


Kaitlyn Hooper and Brie Ballinger each had two goals and an assist for the Lady Warriors in a Crown Mountain Tournament game Wednesday at Lumpkin County.

Becca Baughman also scored for White County (3-3-1, 1-2 Area 7-AAA). Megan Runkle recorded the shutout in goal.

White County plays host to Lumpkin County at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Banks County (0-4) visits Rabun County at 5 p.m. Monday.

North Hall girls 3, Creekview 2 (Tuesday)

The Lady Trojans outscored Creekview 3-2 in penalty kicks, with Karen Carlton scoring the game-winner and Mary Mancin
stopping the final Creekview shot Tuesday in Canton.

Julia Matthews scored twice in regulation for North Hall (3-2, 1-0 Area 7-AAA). Tess Patton and Allie Wright each recorded
assists. Mancin made 15 saves in goal for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall visits unbeaten West Forsyth at 6 p.m. Friday.
