High school scoreboard: White County blasts Johnson

Callie McDonald picked up the win for the White County softball team in the pitching circle and added three hits at the plate in a 12-2 win against Johnson on Tuesday in Cleveland. McDonald finished with five strikeouts in the four-inning game.

Morgan Jacobson had a pair of doubles and two runs scored for the Lady Warriors (10-7, 6-1 Region 7-AAA). Laura Sangster also had two hits for White County.

White County visits West Hall on Thursday in Oakwood.

Buford 15, Avondale 0: Lady Wolves starting pitcher Tricia Warbington only allowed a walk in a two inning no-hitter on Tuesday. Kallie Case led Buford (10-3, 1-0 Region 6-AA) with two hits at the plate, including a triple that scored three runs. Alysha Rudnik added three hits and drove in three runs.

Flowery Branch 5, Chestatee 0: Roxie Dalton had a complete game shutout for the Lady Falcons on Tuesday. Rachel Duden, Caitlin Fowler and Chandler Duckworth each had two hits for Flowery Branch.

Flowery Branch visits East Hall at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday.

Walnut Grove 6, Jefferson 0: Cason Anderson, Lindsey Miles and Rana Davis each had a hit for the Lady Dragons (5-6, 0-2 Region 8-AA) on Tuesday. Jefferson plays host to Fannin County at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday.

Volleyball

North Hall sweeps tri-match

The North Hall High softball team swept matches against Gilmer 2-0 (27-25, 25-2) and Lambert 2-0 (25-12, 25-5) on Tuesday in Cumming. Kathryn Bell led the Lady Trojans with 22 assists, three kills and a pair of digs. Evann Rowland added 11 kills, nine aces and a 14-point serve run.

Sarah Paschall added two kills, a blocked shot and three aces. Anna Marchman had five kills for North Hall, and Megan Cox had six aces and a seven-point serve run.

North Hall visits Buford today.

Flowery Branch wins tri-match

The Flowery Branch volleyball team picked up a win against West Hall 2-0 (25-12, 25-21) and Creekview 2-1 (25-20, 15-25, 27-25) on Tuesday at West Hall. Sophomore Becca Nash had a six straight service points for Flowery Branch (9-7, 5-0 Area 7-AAA).

Gainesville falls in tri-match

Gainesville lost to Pickens 2-0 (25-16, 25-14) and to West Forsyth 2-0 (25-10, 25-10) on Tuesday in Gainesville. Anna Walker had five aces and a pair of digs.

Lakeview sweeps  at Tallulah Falls

Lakeview defeated Yeshiva 2-0 (25-8, 25-15) in the first of two on Tuesday in Tallulah falls.

Ivy Godfrey led the Lady Lions with four kills.

Megan Rochester had three kills and three aces, Jackie Burleson had four aces and A.C. Dover had eight assists.

In the second game of the night, the Lady Lions defeated Tallulah Falls 2-0 (25-20, 25-16).

Johnson splits tri-match

Caitlin Sloan had six kills and four aces for the Lady Knights in a 2-0 (25-15, 25-19) win against Chestatee. Britt Mimbs added five assists.

Johnson lost 2-0 to East Hall (25-21, 25-23). Mary Fiorentino had seven kills and Kellsie Brisbois added seven digs for the Lady Knights.

Cross country

North Hall takes first at War Eagle

The North Hall boys and girls cross country teams placed first at the War Eagle Invitational on Tuesday at Chestatee High. Ty McCormack placed first for the boys, Cody Barger finished second and Brandon Lawson placed third. For the Lady Trojans, Trice Sweet placed fifth and Ansley Lawson took sixth place.
