West Hall’s Morgan Strickland pitched three innings and allowed two runs in a 10-5 win against Gainesville on Tuesday at the Lanier Point Softball Complex. Emily Hammond entered the game in the fourth for the Lady Spartans (9-2, 5-0 Region 7-AAA) and secured the win.
Hammond had three hits for West Hall, Bailey Soucie was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Miranda Miller went 2-for-4 and Madison Strickland had a pair of RBIs.
Nicole Allen led the Lady Red Elephants with three hits, including a three-run home run. West Hall plays host to Flowery Branch High School at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday in Oakwood.

Johnson wins two of three
The Lady Knights played host to Gilmer, West Forsyth and West Hall on Tuesday in Gainesville. In the first of three, Johnson defeated Gilmer in two matches 2-0 (25-23, 26-4). Britt Mimbs led Johnson to victory with three aces and three digs. Shelley Farley had five assists for the Lady Knights.
Johnson lost to West Forsyth 2-0 (25-11, 25-16) in the second game of the night. Caitlin Sloan led the way against West Forsyth with four kills. In the final game of the night, the Lady Knights defeated West Hall 2-0 (25-18, 25-16).
Johnson’s Mary Fiorentino had six aces and three kills, and Britt Mimbs had three kills. The Lady Knights (5-6, 2-1 7-AAA) play host to West Hall and Gainesville at 5 p.m. Thursday in Gainesville.
Lakeview wins a pair
The Lady Lions defeated East Jackson 2-0 (25-12, 25-16) and Walnut Grove 2-0 (25-6, 25-7) Tuesday. Louisa Jacobs led Lakeview with five kills and nine aces with Ivy Godfrey had three kills and four aces. Lakeview travels to Athens Academy for a tri-match against Prince Academy and the Lady Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Flowery Branch sweeps playdate
The Lady Falcons (7-7, 3-0 7-AAA) defeated Gainesville (25-13, 25-14), Lambert (25-4, 25-15) and East Hall (25-21, 25-16) on Tuesday in Flowery Branch. The Lady Red Elephants (1-11, 0-3 7-AAA) visit Johnson to play the Lady Knights and West Hall at 6 p.m. Thursday in Gainesville.
Gainesville lost to Flowery Branch 2-0 (25-13, 25-14), East Hall 2-1 (25-15, 25-19, 25-14) and Lambert 2-0 (25-20, 25-18). Katelyn Whelchel led Gainesville with two blocks and two aces, Somer Graham had two digs and Carmen Rae Torrey had three digs.
West Hall takes one in playdate
West Hall defeated Gilmer 2-0 (25-16, 25-23), but lost to both Johnson 2-0 (25-16, 25-18) and West Forsyth 2-0 (25-18, 25-15) in Gainesville on Tuesday. Erica Grainger led the Lady Spartans with eight assists and eight aces, and Kristen Holmes added eight kills against Gilmer. West Hall visits Johnson to play the Lady Knights and Gainesville at 6 p.m. Thursday in Gainesville.
North Hall takes two in quad match
The Lady Trojans won matches against Pickens 2-0 (25-18, 25-19) and Chestatee 2-0 (25-10, 25-11), but lost to Creekview 2-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-21) on Tuesday at Creekview. Kathryn Bell led North Hall with 37 assists, six kills, eight digs and three aces.
Evann Rowland finished with seven aces, four blocks, 16 digs and 22 kills for the Lady Trojans. Sarah Paschall had a 10-point services run for North Hall along with five aces, six kills and a pair of blocked shots.
Anna Marchman had seven kills, three digs and a blocked shot for the Lady Trojans. North Hall plays host to Chestatee and Hart County on Thursday.
CROSS COUNTRY
Jackson County’s boys and girls cross country teams ran at the Northeast Georgia Championships on Saturday in Athens.
Brittany Aikens broke the Lady Panther’s 5K school record by finishing in 19 minutes, 54 seconds, Lexie Miller was second for Jackson County followed by Katie Maiolo, Mary Collin and Susie Diesch.
