In her first start of the season, Trisha Warbington led the Lady Wolves to a 5-1 victory over Jefferson on Tuesday.
Warbington struck out one, walked three and allowed three hits in the win. Karly Fullem led Buford at the plate going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, and an RBI. Chelsie Thomas went 2-for-3 and scored one run for the top-ranked Lady Wolves.
Kasey McDonald led Jefferson (4-4) by going 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Buford (5-3) plays Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m. today at the Buford Invitational. Jefferson plays host to Commerce at 5:55 p.m. Thursday.
FLOWERY BRANCH 5, PICKENS 2: Ace pitcher Roxie Dalton had three strikeouts and allowed two runs to lead the Lady Falcons to a win over Pickens County on Tuesday.
Rachel Ducen led Flowery Branch (2-1) at the plate going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Chandler Ducksworth and Kendall Fowler both went 2-for-3 with one RBI each and Allison Thornton went 2-for-3.
Flowery Branch plays host to North Hall and Providence at 4 and 7 today.
CREEKVIEW 7, WHITE COUNTY 2: Lindsey Messmore led the Warriors hitting a two-run home run in the second inning, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Lady Grizzlies.
White County (5-4) plays host to Lumpkin County at 5 tonight.
JEFFERSON 4, WESLEYAN 1 (MONDAY): Jefferson rallied in the sixth inning to defeat the Lady Wolves on Monday. Jordyn Whitfield led Jefferson at the plate going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Kasey McDonald was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Sydney Roberts was 1-for-3 three with a run scored and Lindsey Miles went 1-for-3 with one run scored for the Lady Dragons.
Buford wins one, loses one
Buford won its first match against Johnson (25-19, 25-18) on Tuesday, but failed to defeat Jefferson (16-25, 21-25). Hannah Parets led the Lady Wolves with seven kills, Morgan Nash had five aces and Jamie Pridemore had seven digs.
Buford (5-6) visits North Hall for a tri-match with West Hall and the Lady Trojans.
Johnson loses two
Johnson was defeated by Buford (25-19, 25-19) and Jefferson (25-23, 25-18) on Tuesday. Mary Fiorentino led the Lady Knights with four kills in both games. Caitlin Sloan had three kills and three blocks against the Lady Wolves and five kills with two blocks against the Lady Dragons. Shelley Farley had eight assists and four aces against Buford. Jenna Stone had five digs against Jefferson.
Johnson visits Chestatee today for a tri-match against Pickens and the Lady War Eagles.
