High school scoreboard: Top-ranked Buford defeats Greater Atlanta Christian

The Buford High softball team rolled to a 7-1 win against Greater Atlanta Christian on Thursday in Lilburn. Alysha Rudnik had a two-run home run for the Class AA's number one ranked Lady Wolves (12-3, 2-0 Region 6-AA) in the fifth inning. She finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Chelsie Thomas also added two hits for Buford with a pair of runs scored.
Karly Fullem pitched the first four innings with five strikeouts for the Lady Wolves.
Buford visits Blessed Trinity next Thursday.

CREEKVIEW 3, NORTH HALL 0: The Lady Grizzles won on an international tie-breaker in the eighth inning on Thursday at North Hall. Megan Rogers, a senior, only allowed two hits in the pitching circle for the Lady Trojans (5-7, 3-4 Region 7-AAA). Chelsea Clever, Kelsey Gibbs and Danielle Newbern each had a hit for North Hall.
North Hall faces Whitewater and Jones County in the Shaw Invitational today at the South Commons in Columbus.

WEST HALL 3, WHITE COUNTY 2: Miranda Miller led the Lady Spartans to a win over White County hitting a double that allowed Madison Strickland to score ending the eighth inning tie-breaker against the Lady Warriors on Thursday in Oakwood.
West Hall’s (10-4, 6-2 7-AAA) Bailey Soucie hit a two-run home run in the first inning.
The Lady Spartans play Hillgrove at the Cherokee Invitational today in Woodstock.

FANNIN 5, JEFFERSON 1: Brittaney Smith led Jefferson at the plate going 1-for-2 scoring a run in a loss against Fannin on Wednesday in Louisville.
Jefferson (5-1, 0-3 8-AA visits Union County Tuesday in Blairsville.

VOLLEYBALL

Gainesville sweeps at Chestatee
The Lady Red Elephants defeated Lumpkin County (25-11, 25-19) and Chestatee (13-25, 25-20, 26-24) Thursday night in Gainesville.
Shaye Roper led Gainesville with 10 aces, 10 digs, 11 assists and four kills and Katelyn Welchel had five aces and five kills.
Melissa Bailey led Chestatee to a win over Lumpkin County (13-25, 25-20, 26-24) with 13 aces and eight kills, Jennifer Hill had six kills and nine aces and Lindsay Neece had eight kills and three aces.
Gainesville visits Chestatee to face the Lady War Eagles and West Hall in a tri-match on Tuesday in Gainesville.

North Hall splits at West Forsyth
North Hall defeated Johnson in (25-17, 25-12) and went on to lose to West Forsyth (25-15, 25-22) on Thursday in Cumming.
Evann Rowland led the Lady Trojans with 10 kills, a pair of blocks and four digs and Anna Marchman had six kills, a block and three digs.
Leading Johnson was Shelley Farley with 10 assists and 14 digs on the night and Jenna stone with three kills and six digs.
North Hall visits West Forsyth on Tuesday in Cumming.

Lakeview wins one, loses one at home
The Lady Lions were defeated by Jefferson (19-25, 25-23, 25-11), but came back to get the win over Jackson County (25-14, 25-21) in Rossville on Thursday.
Lakeview’s Louisa Jacobs led the way with 12 kills and 10 digs on the night and Megan Rochester had six kills and five digs.
Lakeview (10-9, 1-1 8AA/A) plays host to Athens Christian and Rabun on Tuesday.
