High School Scoreboard: Third-ranked Gainesville boys basketball team tops No. 8 Heritage in Conyers

The No. 3 Gainesville boys basketball team defeated No. 8 Heritage 85-79 Tuesday night in Conyers.

Red Elephants senior D’Marcus Simonds scored 26 points, Bailey Minor had 20 points and Kenyon Buffen added 15.

There were 50 fouls called in the game.

Gainesville (2-0, 1-0) hosts Loganville 8:30 p.m. Friday.

GAINESVILLE 65, HERITAGE 44: Lady Red Elephants Taylor Hawks netted 18 points Tuesday night against the Lady Patriots.

Gainesville’s Kayla Kelly and Shikiya Brown both scored 14 points.

Gainesville (2-2, 1-0) hosts Loganville 7 p.m. Friday.

WEST HALL 51, GREENE COUNTY 23: The Lady Spartans improved to 3-1 Tuesday behind Anna Mckendree’s 12 points.

West Hall’s Macy Passmore scored 10 for the Lady Spartans.

West Hall will host Jackson County at 7 p.m. Friday night.

EAST HALL 65, PEACHTREE RIDGE 43: The Lady Vikings (5-0) were led by Kylah Mize, who scored 28 against the Lady Lions. Carly Winters added 16 to the East Hall total.

The Lady Vikings play at 7 p.m. Friday at North Hall.

NORTH HALL 54, OCONEE COUNTY 53: The Trojans moved to 3-0 Tuesday as Evan Easton’s 20 points led them to victory.

Carson Heinen notched 13 points and Brandon Williams added 12.

The Trojans will host East Hall at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

BUFORD 66, JEFFERSON 34: The Lady Wolves were led by Audrey Weiner’s 15 points in their victory over the Lady Dragons Tuesday.

Buford sophomore Tory Ozment posted 10 points.

Buford (3-0) will play at 4 p.m. Saturday in Madison against Morgan County.

CLARKE CENTRAL 42, FLOWERY BRANCH 35: Falcons junior Brannon Clark scored 14 points in a losing effort Tuesday night.

Clarke Central senior Ellis Flurry led the Gladiators with 11 points.

Flowery Branch (2-2, 0-1) hosts Heritage 8:30 p.m. Friday.

FLOWERY BRANCH 67, CLARKE CENTRAL 53: The Lady Falcons were headed by Taniyah Worth’s 22 points Tuesday night in Athens.

Lady Falcons’ Julianne Sutton scored 11 points and Caroline Wysocki finished with 10.

Flowery Branch (4-0) hosts Heritage 7 p.m. Friday.

BANKS COUNTY 81, COMMERCE 37: Zez Steeple helped lead the Leopards (3-0) to a win with 17 points against the Tigers Tuesday.

Trevae Cain posted 15 for Banks County in the victory.

The Leopards will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday when they host Hart County.

BANKS COUNTY 82, COMMERCE 64: Mallory Parson hit six 3-pointers on the way to 20 points, helping the Lady Leopards to a 3-0 record to start the season.

Maddie Thomas added 17 points for Banks County and Kulia Beasley contributed 10.

Banks County will play at 7 p.m. Friday as they host Hart County.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 39, PEACHTREE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 34: Molly Martin, Maddie Basille and Taylor Britton led the Lady Chargers with 10 points each.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 75, PEACHTREE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 40: Norris Rettiger topped the Chargers’ scoring list with 14 points.

Justin Law added 11 points and both Will Owens and Javeon Rucker posted 10.
