Steffanie Redmon had three hits to pace East Hall’s 4-3 Region 7-AAA victory against Fannin County on Wednesday.

Redmon was 3 for 3, including a double in the third inning and a pair of singles. The Lady Vikings took control with three runs and two doubles in the third.

Fannin County scored twice in the seventh before East Hall finished off the win.

The Vikings play at region rival Banks County at 5:30 p.m. today.

BUFORD BLANKS WOODSTOCK: Bria Bush tossed a complete-game shutout as Buford defeated Woodstock 7-0 on Wednesday in the Elite Sports Classic at Lanier High.

Bush struck out four with no walks and seven hits allowed in seven innings to record her seventh complete game and third shutout of the year.

Samantha Thomas was 3 for 4 with a solo home run, a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Lady Wolves (19-1), with Tessa Daniels and Breanna Gutierrez each going 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Baylee Sexton also 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Buford returns to Region 8-AAAA action when it visits Monroe Area at 5:55 p.m. today.

JACKSON COUNTY EARNS WIN: Kendrix Shelton powered the Lady Panthers to a 4-1 Region 8-AAA win against Morgan County on Tuesday.

Shelton was 2 for 3 with an RBI to pace Jackson County’s eight-hit offense.

Peyton Sorrells pitched five innings to pick up the win for the Panthers (10-9), striking out four, walking one and allowing three hits and one run. Jessica Baker picked up the save by going the final two scoreless innings, with one strikeout, one walk and three hits allowed.

JEFFERSON DROPS TWO: The Lady Dragons lost 3-0 to Apalachee on Monday and 7-6 to Elbert County on Tuesday.
Olivia Husted took the Apalachee loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in four innings.

Caitlin Cantrell had two RBIs and took the pitching loss against Elbert County. Cantrell allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts and a walk.


JOHNSON FALLS TWICE: The Lady Knights fell 2-0 to both North Hall and Madison County on Tuesday.
Cassie McDonald (6 kills, 2 digs, 4 aces), Brooke Balenger (3 kills, 2 aces) and Grace Eidson (12 assists, 3 kills, 1 block) paced Johnson.

The Knights (9-23, 0-3 Region 8-AAAA) play at Gainesville today.

Cross country

RIVERSIDE RUNNERS TAKE FOURTH: The Eagles finished fourth in a meet at Athens Academy that also included Commerce, George Walton Academy, Cedar Shoals and Pinecrest Academy. Riverside unofficially totaled 137 points.
Alexei Joya took fifth place individually in 19:10, with James Soggs coming in 18th in 20:34.

LAKEVIEW’S BROOKS SECOND: The Lions’ Lewis Brooks took second overall at the Jefferson 12th annual Mainstreet News Meet on Tuesday. Lakeview’s boys team finished fourth overall.
