White County takes lead of 8A-AAA

Stephanie Satterfield threw all four innings and struck out five Tuesday to lead the White County softball team to a 12-0 win over Stephens County in Cleveland.

With the win, White County (11-3, 5-0 Region 8A-AAA) retains it’s subregion lead over Stephens County (3-2 Region 8A-AAA).

Callie McDonald led the Lady Warriors from the plate, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs, including a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning to force the 10-run rule and give White County the win.

Satterfield went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while Laura Sangster went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for White County, which visits Lumpkin County at 5:55 p.m. Thursday.

BUFORD 16, CLARKSTON 0 (THREE INNINGS):
Taylor Robinson went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Lady Wolves to the win Tuesday in Clarkston.

Buford used a different pitcher in each inning against Clarkston. Rebekah Rude started the game, striking out two in the first. Danielle Dlugasch threw the second, striking out two while Rachel Stopper threw the third, striking out three.

Rude also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for Class AA’s No. 1 team.

Buford (12-3, 2-0 Region 6A-AA) will play in the Brookwood Tournament against Collins Hill and Whitewater beginning at 4:30 p.m. today.

FLOWERY BRANCH 4, LOGANVILLE 0 (EIGHT INNINGS):
Cally Orr threw a complete game, two-hitter while striking out eight to lead the Lady Falcons to a region win in Loganville.

Caitlin Fowler went 1-for-4 with an RBI for Flowery Branch (4-3 Region 8-AAAA). Orr also went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Flowery Branch, which plays Allatoona at the Brookwood Tournament beginning at 7 tonight.

Volleyball

JEFFERSON WINS TWO AT HOME:
Led by Taylor Cramsey’s 22 kills and five blocks, the Lady Dragons defeated Lakeview Academy (25-23, 25-15) and Prince Avenue (26-24, 25-17) on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Amanda Daniel had six kills, eight aces and 14 assists, while Cassie Metcalf added five aces and five kills for Jefferson (20-5, 8-0 Region 8-A/AA).

Eden Starnes had four aces and six kills and Sarah Wood pitched in three aces, four kills and four assists for the Lady Dragons, who play host to Athens Christian, North Oconee and Jackson County at 5 p.m. Thursday.

FLOWERY BRANCH 2, APALACHEE 0: The Lady Falcons defeated previously unbeaten Apalachee on Tuesday in Flowery Branch, 25-17, 25-18. Katherine McMillin had eight kills to lead Flowery Branch (8-5, 6-0 Region 8-AAAA).

Brittani Hill had four kills, Alexis Love had five aces and two kills and Kenzi Grewett had 12 assists for Flowery Branch. Sierra Whitmire had 6 digs to lead the Lady Falcons, who set a team record for digs with 17 in the match.

Flowery Branch will play at Cedar Shoals at 6 p.m. Thursday.

BUFORD TAKES TWO AT HOME:
Led by Jenna Falletta’s 23 assists, the Lady Wolves defeated Lambert 25-20. 25-23 and Clarkston 25-7, 25-7 on Tuesday in Buford.

Denee Badois had 11 kills and Bailey Hicks added seven aces for Buford (26-5, 4-2), which visits Chestatee for a playdate with West Hall at 5 p.m. Thursday.

NORTH HALL TAKES TWO IN GAINESVILLE: The Lady Trojans beat Chestatee 25-7, 25-15 and West Hall 25-21, 25-18 on Tuesday.

Kathryn Bell had 17 assists, 11 aces and three kills to lead Class AAA’s eighth-ranked North Hall (14-5, 5-0 Region 8A-AAA).

Sarah Paschall had six digs, two kills and three assists while Tess Patton had three kills and three blocks for North Hall.
For West Hall against North Hall, the Lady Spartans received 13 digs from Nicolette Ashley, four kills from Stephanie Rowland and 12 assists from Laykin Herford.

In the other match of the day, Chestatee defeated West Hall 25-15, 19-25, 26-24. For the Lady War Eagles, Melissa Bailey had 14 kills and five aces, Lindsey Neece had five kills and seven blocks, Rebecca Vinke had four kills and five blocks and Jennifer Hill added 26 assists. Chestatee (6-14, 4-2 Region 8A-AAA) will play host to Buford and West Hall at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Against Chestatee, West Hall’s Ashley had 16 digs and six aces while Herford had 17 assists.

Megan Cox had 30 digs and three aces on the day to lead the Lady Trojans, who play in the Collins Hill Classic on Thursday.

JOHNSON SPLITS WITH MONROE AND EASTSIDE: The Lady Knights lost to Monroe 25-22, 24-26, 10-25 but beat Eastside 26-24, 20-25, 25-23 on Tuesday.

Against Monroe, Lejavian Ratliff had four aces, Brittany Panter had five assists, Savannah Turk had three kills and Kellsie Brisbois had three aces and three digs for Johnson.

In the win over Eastside, Caitlin Sloan had two aces, nine kills and two blocks, Karis Sloan had three kills and a block and Brisbois had 15 digs and two aces.
