High school scoreboard: North Hall's Niki Carver tosses perfect game in 8-0 softball win
Carver's gem was the fourth in program's history

North Hall starting pitcher Niki Carver added her name to the record books on Tuesday by tossing a perfect game in 62 pitches in the Trojans’ 8-0 victory over Dawson County.

It was just the fourth perfect game recorded in North Hall fast-pitch history.

The Lady Trojans’ (4-3, 4-0 Region 7-AAA) defense was flawless all night behind Carver, who struck out four hitters over six innings.

The Lady Trojans face East Hall Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

EAST HALL 4, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0: Macy Banks had a solid day pitching from the circle for East Hall (5-3). Banks tossed a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts and one walk.
Jennifer Lopez put the Lady Vikings on the board with a three-run home run in the top of the third inning and doubled in the fifth.
Natalie Robinson for Lumpkin walked two, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
East Hall plays at Franklin County at 5:55 p.m. today.

BUFORD 2, NORTH GWINNETT 1: In a matchup that featured the No. 1 ranked Buford in Class AAAAA hosting Class AAAAAAA No. 3 ranked North Gwinnett, pitcher Logan Caymol pitched her fourth complete game to help the Lady Wolves improve to 9-0 this season.

Samantha Thomas drove in both runs for the Lady Wolves, the first on a first-inning double, and later on a fielder’s choice grounder to short to score Arielle Oda for the eventual winning run. Thomas finished with 1-for-3, with a double and two RBIs.

Mariah Wicker was 2-for-3 with one run scored and a stolen base. Oda had 1-for-3, and one run scored. Also Rebecca Wilson 1-for-1, and a double.

Buford plays at Cambridge at 7 p.m. Cambridge is ranked No. 1 in Class 6A.


JOHNSON SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: Johnson defeated Rabun County (25-9, 25,9) before besting Chestatee (25-22, 25,11) in the same fashion on Tuesday.
Alivia Farley for the Knights had 15 assist and five aces. Grace Eidson had 11 aces, 11 kills, and 11 assists. Emma Hernandez racked up 10 kills to help Johnson in the victory.

Chestatee lost to Rabun County (13-25,18-25). Madelynn Woodard for Chestatee finished with two aces, 13 kills and seven digs.

Johnson (5-5) faces Lumpkin Thursday. Chestatee (0-6) host their next match against Winder-barrow at 5 p.m. Thursday.

GAINESVILLE SPLITS TRI-MATCH AT MILL CREEK: The Lady Red Elephants opened the evening with a loss to Mill Creek (25-20, 25-21). They defeated Lakeview (25-18, 25-17) to close out the evening.

Sydney King racked up 21 digs, Savannah Roys posted five aces, eight assists, 16 kills, 13, digs. Camille Holcomb finished with two aces, 18 assists and seven digs.

The Lady Red Elephants (5-7) host Athens Academy at 5 p.m, then Clarke Central at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

WEST HALL SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: West Hall improved to 5-6 with victories over Lumpkin County and White County.
The Lady Spartans defeated the Lady Indians in straight-set fashion (27-25, 25-17) before their three-set win over White County (25-21, 20-25, 25-11).

Reagan Horton for the Lady Spartans had six kills, Makayla Courson finished with five assists, and Shelbie Conde collected five aces in the win.

West Hall plays Providence and Pinecrest on Thursday.

BUFORD BESTS ST. PIUS: The Lady Wolves (5-1) found a way past St. Pius in a best of five match (25-22,27-25,25-12).

Impact players for Buford included Tatum Shipes, Gabby Curry, and Halston Hillier. Shipes finished with 12 kills, Curry totaled 23 digs,and Hillier finished with five blocks.

The Lady Wolves face Blessed Trinity and Johns Creek at Johns Creek on Thursday.
