High school scoreboard: North Hall volleyball claims three wins at Battle of the Branch

The North Hall High volleyball program won three of five matches in the Battle of the Branch tournament on Saturday in Flowery Branch. The Lady Trojans beat West Hall (25-14, 25-16), Parkview (25-7, 25-16) and Winder-Barrow (16-25, 25-18, 25-8).

North Hall lost to Mill Creek (25-21, 20-25, 15-9) and in the semifinals against Mill Creek (24-26, 25-16, 15-13).

For North Hall, Melissa DeVerter had 35 kills, 38 digs, 11 blocks.

Lily Paschall chipped in 88 assists, three kills, six aces and 31 digs.

Also for the Lady Trojans, Autumn Tucker finished with 39 kills, 30 digs, two aces and a blocked shot.

GAINESVILLE TAKES THIRD AT FORSYTH CHALLENGE: The Lady Red Elephants (4-6) won matches against Stratford Academy (25-8, 25-15) and best Forsyth Central (22-25, 25-21, 15-5) on Saturday. Gainesville lost matches against North Forsyth and West Forsyth during the weekend.

For the Lady Red Elephants, Savannah Roys had 24 kills, 39 assists, nine aces and 37 digs. Abby Alexander chipped in 23 kills, six aces, seven blocks.

Tangi Miller had nine kills and three blocks for the Lady Red Elephants, while Cori Griffin added seven kills. Anna Wylie had 10 kills and four aces for Gainesville.

Gainesville visits Mill Creek for a tri-match with Lakeview Academy on Tuesday.

Softball
BUFORD WINS TWO IN FLOWERY BRANCH: Logan Caymol and Ansley Byers both pitched complete games for the Lady Wolves (8-0) in wins against North Forsyth (1-0) and Collins Hill (10-2) in the Hawk-Bulldog Invitational on Saturday in Flowery Branch.

Caymol allowed just one hit while striking out 11 in the circle for Buford. At the plate, Arielle Oda had two hits and scored a run for the Lady Wolves.

Against Collins Hill, Rebecca Wilson had a double, triple and drove in a run for the Lady Wolves. University of Virginia commit Samantha Thomas was 2 for 2 with a double and two runs scored. Mariah Wicker drove in three runs for Buford.

On Tuesday, Buford faces North Gwinnett at 5 p.m.
