North Hall’s Gabrielle Hoffman won the Class AAA state title in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet on Thursday at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Harper Seymour placed second in the shot put (36-3) and third in the discus with a school-record (112-8). In the 3200, North Hall’s Victoria Rogers was fourth (11:51) and Makayla Ellis finished sixth (11:59).
Also in Class AAA, Buford’s Corey Staples finished third in the triple jump (37-01.5). West Hall’s Maia Caldwell-Booker took third in the long jump (17-08.25).
In the Class A public schools division, Commerce’s Lily Mather took third in the high jump (4-10). Cameron Hawkins of Commerce took sixth in the triple jump at 32-08.75.
UNION COUNTY SWEPT IN ROUND 2: The Panthers fell to Pepperell by scores of 2-1 and 8-0 in the second round of the Class AA state playoffs Thursday in Lindale.
Union County took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of Game 1 on an RBI single by T Bentley, and remained ahead until Pepperell scored twice in the sixth.
Union County’s season is complete with the loss.
