Flowery Branch opened the second round of the Class AAAAA state baseball playoffs with a 6-3 win against North Paulding and lost 7-5 in Game 2 during Wednesday’s doubleheader in the best-of-three series in Dallas. In Game 1, Jonathan Hughes pitched the complete game and struck out nine to earn the win. Justin Seabolt paced the Falcons at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance, Stephen Skeggs went 2 for 3, and Trey Groves was 2 for 4 with a home run.
