With a nine-hole score of 153, the Lumpkin County boys golf team retained the lead in the Border Challenge against Johnson and North Forsyth on Thursday at Achasta.
Low medalist for the match was Aaron George, who carded a 34 for the Indians.
Lumpkin County’s Everett Huntsinger shot a 38, Austin Booker a 39 and Cody Fleming a 42.
The round brings the Indians’ overall score to 305 to lead Johnson’s 318 and North Forysth’s 325.
Scorers for the Knights were Josh Foster (39), Grant Cagle (41), Michael Dunham (41) and Clint Reeves (43) to give Johnson a round of 164.
The final leg of the Challenge will be April 12 at Hampton Village.
Johnson next plays Saturday at the Warner Robins Invitational. Lumpkin County plays North Hall at 3:30 p.m. March 30 at Achasta.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 9, TOWNS COUNTY 4: Ralston Cash pitched six innings, giving up no runs and striking out 14 to lead the Lions to victory Thursday in Hiawassee.
Cash also went 2-for-5 with two RBIs at the plate for Lakeview Academy (11-2, 7-0 Region 8-A).
Lakeview’s Taylor Simpson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double.
Tyler Young went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double for the Lions, who visit Riverside Military at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
