Behind two home runs from Kyle Mills and Hayden Cummins, White County’s baseball team defeated Pickens at home Tuesday.

Starting pitcher Luke Crumley threw four innings with 11 strikeouts, while Bo Medlock came on in the fifth to earn the win.

Crumley was also 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs.

David Sosebee struck out the side in the seventh to earn the save.

White County (6-1, 1-0 Region 7A-AAA) visits East Hall at 5:55 p.m. today.

UNION COUNTY 10, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 3:
Senior Chaiz George hit two home runs and had seven RBIs to lead Union County on Tuesday in Blairsville.

George started with a three-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth to extend the Panthers lead to 5-1 and with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, George struck again, blasting his second home run of the game.

Dalton Everett also homered for Union County (5-2, 1-1 Region 8-AA) and pitcher Brady McCarter threw a complete game, giving up only one earned run.

Both teams return to action on Friday, with the Panthers playing host to Jefferson at 5:55 p.m. and the Eagles visiting North Oconee at 5 p.m.

JEFFERSON 10, WALNUT GROVE 3: Jake Fields threw six innings, gave up four hits and had five strikeouts Tuesday in Loganville.

Fields also went 2-for-2 from the plate with two RBIs.

Kyle Hardy went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Dragons (5-1, 2-0 Region 8-AA), who visit Union County for a doubleheader at 5 p.m. Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 11, PRINCE AVENUE 3: Ross Biegler was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs as the Lions won on the road Tuesday.

Logan Jones had four RBIs and Dalton Mundy was 2-for-3 for Lakeview (5-2).

The Lions play host to Athens Christian at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

BUFORD 13, FORSYTH CENTRAL 1: Jamie Ritchie went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs as Buford won at home on Tuesday.

Brian Clark was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a triple for the Wolves (7-1).

Buford visits Peachtree Ridge at 5 p.m. today.

Golf

JOHNSON GIRLS 105, CHESTATEE 128: Lauren Smith was the low medalist for Johnson on Tuesday with a score of 47 at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

The Lady Knights play Gainesville at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Royal Lakes.

NORTH HALL BOYS 155, JOHNSON 171: Jimmy Lloyd shot a 36 for the Trojans at Chestatee Golf Course on Tuesday.

Andy Bracewell was the other low scorer for North Hall with a 38.

Johnson was led by Grant Cagle’s 41.

North Hall travels to Waynesboro to play in the Taylor Made/Adidas Invitational on Saturday. Johnson plays in the Tri-School Challenge against North Forsyth and Lumpkin County on Thursday at Royal Lakes.

WEST HALL GIRLS 102, FLOWERY BRANCH 129: With a score of 50 from Mallory Smith and a 52 from Natalie Mathias, the Lady Spartans defeated Flowery Branch on Tuesday at Royal Lakes.

West Hall (3-0) plays Lambert at Laurel Springs Golf Course at 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Flowery Branch plays Apalachee at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chicopee Golf Course.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 91, WHITE COUNTY 93, PICKENS 106: Cameron Cole shot a match- low 38 as Gainesville won a three-team match at Chattahoochee Golf Course on Tuesday.

Susan Frobos carded a 53 for the Red Elephants.

Jodi Samples had a 46 and Chelsea Ash had a 47 for White County.

Gainesville plays North Forsyth and Johnson at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Chattahoochee.

White County plays Saturday in the Brookwood Invitational at the Summit Chase Country Club.

Soccer

NEW CREATION CHRISTIAN ACADEMY GIRLS 5, NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 4: Brittany White and Kayla Goodson each scored a goal for the Lady Chargers (3-2) in regulation to leave the score tied 2-2.

After a scoreless overtime, North Georgia lost in penalty kicks, 3-2.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN BOYS 4, NEW CREATION CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 0: Behind a hat trick from Rick Valentine, the Chargers won Tuesday at Allen Creek.

Andre Farmer scored the fourth goal for North Georgia (2-0-1).

JOHNSON GIRLS 4, WHITE COUNTY 3: Senior Anaelly Contreras scored the game-winning goal with two minutes left in overtime to lift the Lady Knights to victory on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Kayla Madsen, K.K. Dumanowski and Bethany Johnson each scored for Johnson (3-3. 1-2 Area 7-AAA).

Johnson visits Lumpkin County at 5:30 p.m. Friday. White County plays host to East Hall at 5:30 Thursday.

JOHNSON BOYS 10, WHITE COUNTY 0: Vicente Trujillo, Juan Morfin and Gabriel Carillo each scored two goals to lead the Knights past White County on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Ruban Castro, Inmer Vanegas, Javier Gonzalez and Ariel Mejia also scored for Johnson (5-2, 2-1 Area 7-AAA).

Trujillo and Chris Henry each had three assists for the Knights, who visit Lumpkin County at 7 p.m. Friday.

Tennis

GAINESVILLE BOYS 3, JOHNSON 2: With one singles victory and two doubles victories, the Red Elephants won on the road Tuesday.

Ryan Joiner and the teams of Connor McMorrow/Jackson Goble and Doug McDuff/Alexander Davis won in straight sets for Gainesville.

William Anthony and Casey Tanner claimed wins for Johnson.

Gainesville travels to West Hall at 4 p.m. today. Johnson play host to West Hall at 4 p.m. Thursday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 3, CREEKVIEW 2: With one singles victory and a doubles sweep, the Trojans won at Creekview on Tuesday.

Sam Taylor had the only singles victory for North Hall in a match that was pro set due to failing light, 8-3.

The teams of Charlie Hortenstine/Eli LoCicero and Joe Nedza/Jack Hortenstine won both doubles matches, losing only one set combined.

North Hall (6-2, 6-0 Region 7A-AAA) plays host to Pickens at 4 p.m. today.
