The Buford Lady Wolves improve to 3-1 on the season with two wins Friday at the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational softball tournament at West Jackson Park in Hoschton.
Karly Fullem pitched a complete-game shutout in the first game to lead the Lady Wolves to a 2-0 victory over Oconee County. Fullem (2-0) struck out two and gave up six hits and three walks.
Alysha Rudnik led Buford at the plate with a three-run home run in the bottom of the second. Fullem went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs and Chelsie Thomas went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
In the second game, Buford beat South Forsyth 4-3. Melissa Dickie had nine strikeouts for Buford giving up one walk and four hits. Lexi Overstreet led Buford at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs.
Buford is scheduled to play three games in the tournament today.
North Hall beats East Hall at Forsyth County tournament
The North Hall High volleyball team swept East Hall and tied Tucker in the Forsyth County tournament on Friday night in Cumming.
The Lady Trojans defeated East Hall 2-0 (25-23, 25-11). Then, North Hall tied Tucker 1-1 (25-18, 22-25).
Kathryn Bell had 19 assists, five kills and four digs for North Hall. Lauren Gregory added three kills and five aces for the Lady Trojans.
Anna Marchman had five kills, Sarah Paschall had two blocks and five kills, and Evann Rowland had eight kills, 13 digs and two aces for North Hall.
North Hall faces Decatur at 9 a.m. today at Otwell Middle School in Cumming.
