Buford High’s Karly Fullem entered the game in relief in the fourth inning and preserved a 5-2 victory against Wesleyan in the Buford Invitational softball tournament Wednesday in Buford.
Fullem finished with a pair of strikeouts and didn’t allow any runs for the Lady Wolves (6-3).
Buford’s Tricia Warbington pitched three innings with three strikeouts in the circle, and allowed two walks and four hits.
Alysha Rudnik led Buford at the plate going 2-for-2 with a two-run home run.
Lexi Overstreet went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Kallie Case went 2-for-3 with three scored runs for Buford.
The Lady Wolves play host to Grayson at 4:30 today in the Buford Invitational.
WHITE COUNTY 3, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0 (Aug. 20): Stephanie Satterfield led White County to a shutout victory with seven strikeouts in the circle, and two hits at the plate Aug. 20.
Morgan Jacobson went 2-for-3 with a home run and a pair of RBIs for the Lady Warriors, and Laura Sangster went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
The Lady Warriors (6-4 2-1) visit Gilmer at 5:55 p.m. tonight in Ellijay.
CROSS COUNTRY
Jackson County ran a 5k at Athens Academy on Wednesday.
Top performers for the boys were Austin Moser, Miguel Guereca, Dragos Teador and Zack Knight.
For the girls, Brittany Aikens, Sydney Baird, Lexie Miller and Katie Maiolo led the Lady Panthers.
