High school scoreboard: Kight pitches Flowery Branch to 13-0 win against Johnson

Junior Kara Kight pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for Flowery Branch in a 13-0 win over Johnson in four innings Tuesday. Kight also had two hits and drove in two runs for the Lady Falcons in the Region 8-AAAAA victory.

Sophomore Alyssa Kimbrell finished with three hits, including a double and a triple for the Lady Falcons. She also scored three runs.

Callie Alexzulian had three RBIs for Flowery Branch, while Chloe Zoeller and Alexis Nixon had two hits each for Flowery Branch.

Flowery Branch visits Habersham Central at 5:55 p.m. today in Mount Airy.

MARIST 8 CHESTATEE 3: Marist scored six runs in the second innings to halt Chestatee’s win streak at 12 games on Tuesday.

Hannah Jones and Rebecca Eddins each had a hit and drove in a run for the Lady War Eagles (12-1, 1-1 Region 7-AAAA).
Chestatee faces Dawson County at 5:55 p.m. today.

Volleyball
BUFORD SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: The Lady Wolves (12-2) picked up a 25-7, 25-13 victory against Brookwood, then beat (Lovett 25-11, 25-10) on Tuesday.

Tatum Shipes for Buford led the offense with 12 kills and the defense with nine digs against Brookwood.

Against Lovett, University of Kentucky commit Gabby Curry led Buford with 10 kills and the defense with 10 digs. Morgan Mitchell had 16 assists for the Lady Wolves.

Buford faces Woodward Academy at 6 p.m. on Thursday in College Park.

CHESTATEE TOPS CENTRAL GWINNETT IN FOUR-TEAM MATCH: Chestatee lost to Parkview in two sets (25-10, 25-15).

Chestatee beat Central Gwinnett in two sets (25-17,25-20).

Chestatee took a loss against Shiloh in three sets winning their first set and losing the two next sets (33-31,25-21,25-16).

Impact players for Chestatee were Madelynn Woodard with 11 acaes, 26 kills, 16 digs, Anna Bryce with two aces two kills, 30 assists, and seven digs.

Nicole Sedwick finished with four aces, 11 digs, one kill one assist and two blocks for the Lady War Eagles, while Sophie Davis finished with six kills, two assists, and nine digs for the Lady War Eagles.

Chestatee plays a tri-match with Pace Academy at King’s Ridge Christian at 6 p.m. Thursday.
