The West Hall boys tennis team used two singles and one doubles win to defeat North Forsyth 3-2 on Wednesday at Central Park in Cumming.

 

Max Wilson (6-4, 6-3) and Connor McFall (6-0, 6-2) each won in straight sets for West Hall (2-0). The team of Tatum Scroggs and Min Kim also won in straight sets (6-0, 6-3) for the Spartans, who visit Dacula at 4 p.m. Monday.


Basketball

TOWNS COUNTY GIRLS 85, COMMERCE 40 (TUESDAY): Junior Gabby Arencibia went off for 43 points as the fifth-ranked Lady Indians won in Hiawassee. Arencibia hit 13 3-pointers in a game in which Towns County (23-1) led 41-26 at halftime.

 

Ali Bleckley scored 14 points and Ben Pong added 10 for Towns County, which has already secured the top seed from Region 8A-A.

 

Jaz Greier scored 20 points for Commerce (7-13, 4-8 Region 8A-A), which hosts Tallulah Falls at 6 p.m. Friday.

 

COMMERCE BOYS 70, TOWNS COUNTY 41 (TUESDAY): Led by Bubba Bonds' 24 points, the two-time defending champion of Region 8-A won in Hiawassee.

 

Brandon Romans added 13 for Commerce (16-5, 9-2 Region 8A-A), while led 16-7 after the first quarter and 50-28 heading into the final period. The Tigers host Tallulah Falls at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

 

D.J. Rogers scored 11 points for Towns County (5-20, 3-11) and Bradley Swanson added 10.

 

UNION COUNTY GIRLS 64, DAWSON COUNTY 42 (TUESDAY): Carly Gilreath scored 14 points and Natalie Parker and Kenna Seitz each added six for the Lady Tigers in the loss in Blairsville.  

 

Dawson County (10-12, 1-8) hosts Banks County at 7 p.m. Friday. Union County (11-11, 4-5) visit East Hall at 7 p.m. Friday.
