East Hall boys slip past North Hall

The East Hall High boys scored a pair of big baskets in the final 18 seconds and took advantage of a turnover by North Hall in the final seconds to win 60-56 on Saturday in Gainesville.

Kymon Woods scored the go-ahead basket for the Vikings (15-5, 6-0 Region 8A-AA) with 18 seconds remaining, followed by a free throw off a Trojans turnover.

Chris Orr added the final basket for East Hall to make the final score. Woods and J.C. Hampton each scored 15 points for East Hall, which visits Banks County at 7:30 on Tuesday.

Amin Aziz (12) and Darius Curry (10) were both in double figures scoring for North Hall (13-8, 5-1 Region 8A-AAA). The Trojans visit White County at 7:30 on Tuesday.

ATHENS ACADEMY GIRLS 46, LAKEVIEW 24:
Taylor Handte led the Lady Lions with eight points and Mona Abraham added six on Saturday in Watkinsville. Dynelle Toddman scored 17 for the Lady Spartans, which led 26-11 at halftime and held Lakeview scoreless in the third period.

Lakeview Academy visits Towns County at 7 p.m. Friday in Hiawassee.

LAKEVIEW BOYS 50, ATHENS ACADEMY 29: Austin Pearson led the Lions (11-10) with 19 points on Saturday in Watkinsville.

Leading 11-7 after the first period, Lakeview outscored Athens Academy 17-9 in the second quarter.

BUFORD BOYS 60, WESLEYAN 48:
T.J. Shipes scored a game-high 24 points and Alex Flager chipped in 14 for Buford (14-5) on Saturday in Buford. Kyle Kellam finished with 10 points for Buford, which plays host to Decatur at 7:30 on Tuesday.

WESLEYAN GIRLS 48, BUFORD 37: Kaela Davis finished with 14 points for the Lady Wolves, but it wasn’t enough against Class A’s top-ranked Wesleyan (20-2) on Saturday in Buford.

Andraya Carter added nine points for Buford (16-2). Buford plays host to Decatur at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Buford.

DALTON GIRLS 42, CHESTATEE 23:
Sam Brown finished with six points and six rebounds for the Lady War Eagles (17-4) against the undefeated No. 2 Catamounts on Saturday. Brooke Peck also finished with six points for Chestatee. The Lady War Eagles host Franklin County at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 60, LOGANVILLE 37: Rudy DeAza led the Falcons (6-14) with 15 points and Byron Keith added 13 on Saturday.

Leading 15-10 after the first quarter, Flowery Branch pushed its lead to 30-17 by halftime. Flowery Branch visits Habersham Central at 7:30 on Tuesday in Mount Airy.

WALNUT GROVE GIRLS 56, JOHNSON 51: Caitlyn Sloan led the Lady Knights (13-8, 7-2) with 17 points and four assists on Saturday in Walnut Grove. Emily Byers pulled down 10 rebounds for Johnson, which plays host to Jefferson at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Oakwood.
