The Lakeview boys basketball team defeated George Walton Academy 75-65 Saturday night in Gainesville to stay undefeated in Region 8-A play.

The Lions (12-3, 6-0) were led by Austin Pearson with 18 points. Joel Larsen added 12 points and Trevor Price scored 11 for Lakeview, which plays again at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hebron Christian.

George Walton was led by Trent Hunt (19 points) and Philip Mouzon (13).

LAKEVIEW GIRLS 40, GEORGE WALTON 38: The Lady Lions used a team-high 23 points from Taylor Handte to help beat George Walton Saturday night.

Lakeview plays against at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hebron Christian.

JOHNSON BOYS 80, LUMPKIN COUNTY 49: Johnson led 18-2 after one quarter en route to a big win over the Indians on Saturday in Oakwood.

The Knights (8-10, 0-5 8-AAA South) were led by Matt Hollis with 27 points. Carter Cagle added 12, Jalen Bowens scored 11 and Montrell McKenzie was one block short of a triple-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and nine blocks.

The Indians were led by Jacob Haskel with 13 points.

Johnson is back in action Tuesday at 8-AAA South opponent Lanier at 7:30. Lumpkin County travels to Chestatee on Tuesday, also in subregion play.

JOHNSON GIRLS 49, LUMPKIN COUNTY 23: Lyndsey Pethel scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and the Lady Knights rolled to the win Saturday in Oakwood.

Johnson returns to action Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Lanier, while the Lady Indians travel to Chestatee on Tuesday.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 49, LOGANVILLE 30: Cara Chilton and Tavia Sykes poured in 13 points as the Lady Falcons (11-6) rolled to a Region 8-AAAA win Saturday in Loganville.

Flowery Branch returns to the court at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Clarke Central.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 63, LOGANVILLE 58: Nick Wayne sank six 3-pointers and tallied 21 points to lead the Falcons (7-10, 1-2 8-AAAA) to the win Saturday in Loganville. Jamaad Stephens added 15 points for Flowery Branch, which returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Clarke Central.

UNION COUNTY GIRLS 57, MURPHY, N.C. 48: Rebecka Merritt led the Lady Panthers with 22 points Saturday in Murphy, N.C.

Union County (14-3), which added 13 points from Catie Tanner and 11 from Angie Hughes, plays Banks County at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home.

Murphy was led by Katrina Evans with 15 points.

UNION COUNTY BOYS 62, MURPHY N.C. 60: Rhett McCombs led all scorers with 28 to lead the Panthers (10-7) to the road win Saturday.

Zach Odom added 13 points and James Rowe scored 10 for Union County, which will host Banks County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Blairsville.

Trevor Crouch led Murphy with 18 points.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 56, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 29: Deasha Beasley scored 11 points to lead the Lady Leopards to the win Saturday in Lexington.

Banks County (12-5) will travel to Union County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

ALPHARETTA GIRLS 60, BUFORD 42: Kaela Davis scored 27, but it wasn’t enough for the Lady Wolves (10-6, 6-0 6-AA) who fell at the Peach State Classic at Wesleyan on Saturday. Buford returns to the court at 6 p.m. Friday at home against Westminster.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL BOYS 58, FLOWERY BRANCH 44 (Friday): Nick Wayne scored a team-high 14 points, but it wasn’t enough in the Region 8-AAAA matchup.
