Lakeview Academy’s Hanna Grogan scored 18 points, and the Lady Lions basketball team locked down the No. 1 seed for next week’s Region 8-A tournament with an 81-35 win over Providence Christian Academy on Friday in Gainesville.
Ryann Moody added 13 for the Lady Lions (21-4, 13-0 Region 8-A), while teammate Jackie Allen finished the night with 12.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 104, PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN 39: Drew Cottrell racked up 24 points for Lakeview Academy on Friday in Gainesville. Senior Josh Randolph added 18 points for the Lions (20-5, 15-0 Region 8-A) while teammate Adam Cottrell posted 12. Lakeview Academy senior Tre Gober finished the night with 10 points.
Lakeview Academy host the region tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Lions play their first game at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Gainesville. Opponent is to be determined.
NORTH HALL GIRLS 62, LUMPKIN COUNTY 31: Taylor Anne Kelley scored 13 points for the Lady Trojans (16-9, 8-4 Region 7-AAA) to conclude the regular season on Friday in Dahlonega.
North Hall plays on Tuesday in the Region 7-AAA tournament. Opponent is to be determined.
NORTH HALL BOYS 76, LUMPKIN COUNTY 73: North Hall’s Alden Lewallen put up a team-high 20 points, while Justin Rabb added 13 in the Trojans’ (14-11, 7-5 Region 7-AAA) regular season finale. Griffin Neville also pitched in 11 points in the win.
North Hall plays on Tuesday in the Region 7-AAA tournament. Opponent is to be determined.
EAST HALL GIRLS 48, FANNIN COUNTY 43: East Hall’s Kylah Mize scored 17 points on Friday in Blue Ridge. Carly Winters added 16 for the Lady Vikings (16-8, 11-1 Region 7-AAA). With the win, East Hall clinches the No. 1 seed in next week’s Region 7-AAA tourney.
East Hall will get a first-round bye, and is slated to play Union County in the semifinals.
EAST HALL BOYS 78, FANNIN COUNTY 58: Sedrion Morse had 17 points to lead the Vikings (17-7, 10-2 Region 7-AAA), while Keilen Dowdy was not far behind with 14 in the win.
East Hall plays in the Region 7-AAA Tournament next week.
GAINESVILLE GIRLS 64, APPALACHEE 52: Taylor Hawks scored 16 points for Gainesville on Friday in Winder. Jada Harrison and Tija Blackwell scored 12 points apiece for the Lady Red Elephants(16-7, 7-3 Region 8-AAAAAA).
Gainesville plays at 4 p.m. on Friday in Appalachee for the region 8-AAAAAA tournament.
UNION COUNTY GIRLS 53, DAWSON COUNTY 46: Kaylee Sticker had 24 points, while teammate Calli Watson had 11 for the Lady Tigers.
Dawson County plays next week in the Region 7-AAA Tournament.
DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 58, UNION COUNTY 51: Jeremiah Crumley posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds for Dawson County. Joesph Cronan had 11 for the Tigers (13-11, 7-5 Region 7-AAA), while teammate Cullen Reed finished the night with 10 points.
Dawson County plays next week in the Region 7-AAA Tournament.
BUFORD GIRLS 69, JOHNSON 21: Tate Walters scored 11 points for Buford on Friday in Gainesville. Kya Styles added 10 for the Lady Wolves (22-2, 12-2 Region 8-AAAAA).
Buford plays in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament at 4 p.m. on Friday.
BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 78, OGLETHROPE 28: Jaycie Bowen posted 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Banks County on Friday in Lexington. The Lady Leopards’ record improves to 16-7 and 8-3 in Region 8-AA play.
Banks County plays Elbert County at 4 p.m. today in Homer.
BANKS COUNTY BOYS 75, OGLETHROPE 58: Carl Cleveland had 20 points for Banks County. Dylann Orr had a double-double performance with 16 points, 10 rebounds and added three blocks for the Leopards (19-4, 11-0 Region 8-AA).
Gabe Martin finished the night with 18 points for Banks County.
