The Gainesville High boys soccer team defeated Clarke Central 1-0 in the Oconee County Tournament on Thursday in Watkinsville. 

Merly Velazquez scored the lone goal of the game for the Red Elephants (1-1).

Phillip Gaines recorded the shutout for Gainesville (1-1).

Gainesville continues tournament play against the winner of North Oconee and Oconee County at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Gainesville girls 3, Clarke Central 0

Maggie Norton scored two goals and Raquel Castillo had a goal and an assist for the Lady Elephants in the Oconee County tournament Thursday in Watkinsville.

Hong Tran made 15 saves and recorded the shutout for Gainesville (1-1).

Gainesville continues tournament play at noon Saturday.

Chestatee girls 1, Winder-Barrow 0

Morgan Dooley scored with four minutes to play to give the Lady War Eagles a late win Thursday in Winder.

Chestatee (1-0) outshot Winder-Barrow 29-1.

Chestatee plays host to Monroe Area at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Riverside Military 9, East Jackson 0

Daniel Vergara scored five goals and had an assist as the Eagles cruised past East Jackson on Thursday.

Yun Bae Choi had four assists for Riverside (2-0). Pappe Nedaye scored two goals and Mark Shurett and Eddy Montalvo each scored once.

Riverside visits Fannin County on Tuesday.
