Caitlin Fowler led the Flowery Branch High softball team with a two-run home run in the eighth inning en route to a 6-5 win against North Hall Wednesday in Flowery Branch. Fowler finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Flowery Branch’s Roxie Dalton picked up the win in the pitching circle throwing a complete game with six strikeouts against the Lady Trojans. Flowery Branch (4-1 7-AAA) visits West Hall at 5:55 tonight in Oakwood.
GAINESVILLE 9, JOHNSON 0, 5 INNINGS: Caitlin Presnell led the Red Elephants by throwing a two-hitter, and led the team at the plate going 3-for-4 on Wednesday in Oakwood.
Gainesville’s Sarah Hughs was 2-for-3, Katie Woods was 2-for-3 and Katy Womack went 2-for-2 at the plate.
The Lady Red Elephants (3-10) visit Chestatee at 5:55 tonight.
COMMERCE 10, TOWNS COUNTY 2, 5 INNINGS: Tigers pitcher Brooklynn Stinchcomb led the Lady Tigers in the pitching circle with eight strikeouts and only two walks allowed Wednesday.
Beth Pritchett led Commerce at the plate going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
The Lady Tigers’ Haiden Nunn went 2-for-3, scored twice and had a pair of RBIs, Kelsey Beck had one hit, scored twice and had two RBIs and Brooklynn Stinchcomb scored three runs.
The Lady Tigers (1-0 8-A) visit Social Circle at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday.
VOLLEYBALL
North Hall wins two at Creekview
The Lady Trojans defeated Pickens 2-0 (25-18, 25-19) and Chestatee 2-0 (25-10, 25-11), but lost to the Lady Grizzlies 2-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-21) Tuesday in Canton.
Evann Rowland led North Hall with 22 kills, 16 digs, seven aces and four aces.
The Lady Trojans’ Kathryn Bell had 37 assists, eight digs, six kills and three aces, Anna Marchman had seven kills, three digs and one block, and Lauren Gregory had eight kills.
North Hall visits Chestatee tonight for a tri-match against the Lady War Eagles and Hart County at 5 p.m. in Gainesville.
