High School Scoreboard: Flowery Branch girls tennis sweeps all lines

The Flowery Branch girls tennis team swept Jefferson 5-0 on Monday.

Annabelle Thomas competed in No. 1 singles for the Lady Falcons, defeating her opponent Jessica Jacobs in straight sets (6-1,6-0). Flowery Branch’s Olivia Correa defeated Sydney Tyler in No. 2 singles (6-0,6-0). Peyton Brick and Kylie McGuire won their match in No. 1 doubles for Flowery Branch against Cami Servatius and Catherine Chambers (6-0.6-0). Brenna Martin and Marissa Barrett won their match in No. 2 doubles for Flowery Branch, beating Cami Servatius and Catherine Chambers in straight sets (6-1,6-0).

Flowery Branch’s record moves to 2-0.

BUFORD GIRLS 5, WEST HALL 0: Buford’s Bailey McCammon won at No. 1 singles and Savanna Klem won at No. 2 singles for the Lady Wolves, while teammate Emma Place won at No. 3 singles. Tamia Wayne and Gabby Benson won at No. 1 Doubles for the Lady Wolves, while Cate Caldwell and Ainsley Kerr won at No. 2 doubles for Buford.

The girls are 2-1 on the season.

In the boys match, Buford’s Brady Todd won at one Singles. Dalton Counts won at two singles for the Wolves while teammate Cameron DeLoach won at three. Alex Pruitt and Luke Davidson won at No. 1 doubles for Buford while Cole Tarleton and Trent Milton won at No. 2 doubles for the Wolves.

Buford improves to 2-1.

BASEBALL

Johnson’s baseball team opened its season with a win against Meadowcreek, winning 18-1 in Norcross. Chandler Barkley was the winning pitcher for the Knights. He struck out 10, allowed one hit and gave up one run over four innings. Barkley also posted two RBI for Johnson (1-0). Ramom Munoz was 3 for 4 with two RBI for Johnson.

Johnson plays Meadowcreek at 5:55 p.m. on Friday in Oakwood.

NORTH HALL 3, FLOWERY BRANCH 2: North Hall’s Reese Olson pitched six innings with eight strikeouts, allowed one hit and did not allow any runs. Taber Mongero, Caleb Clark, and Jackson Latty scored a run apiece for the Trojans (1-0).
North Hall plays West Forsyth at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Cumming.
