The Flowery Branch Boys basketball team advanced to the second round of the Region 8-AAAAA tournament by knocking off Clarke Central 65-42 at Cedar Shoals.
The Falcons will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Cedar Shoals against Cedar Shoals or Johnson. John Mills and Brannon Clark both had 15 apiece for Flowery Branch, and Justin Quick finished the night with 13.
NORTH HALL GIRLS 69, LUMPKIN COUNTY 41: North Hall’s Taylor Anne Kelley racked up 23 points and had five steals in Tuesday’s Region 7-AAA tournament game in Dahlonega. Camilla Howell added 11 for the Lady Trojans.
North Hall plays Greater Atlantic Christian in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday at Union County in Blairsville.
BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 61, OGLETHROPE 33: Banks advanced to the Region 8-AAA tournament semifinals, where it will play Putnam County at 4 p.m. Thursday in Homer. Jaycie Bowen had 16 for the Lady Leopards, while teammate Allison Smith added 14.
DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 50, UNION COUNTY 23: Kaylee Sticker and Abi Chatham both had 11 points apiece for the Lady Tigers, who advanced to the Region 7-AAA tournament semifinals with the victory.
