McKenna Rushton leads Lady Trojans with 20 points

One day after letting an 18-point lead slip away at Franklin County, North Hall’s McKenna Rushton scored 20 points with nine rebounds to lead the Lady Trojans to a 63-30 win against Lumpkin County in Dahlonega.

Taylor Swoszowski added 13 points and eight assists for North Hall (11-12, 6-2 Region 8A-AAA), which plays host to Stephens County at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 62, LUMPKIN COUNTY 40: Griffin Olson’s 14 points led the Trojans (14-10, 6-3 Region 8A-AAA), and Amin Aziz had 11 points on Saturday in Dahlonega.

North Hall plays host to Stephens County at 7:30 on Tuesday in Gainesville.

BUFORD GIRLS 53, MADISON COUNTY 29: Sheresee Williams scored a game-high 15 and Kaela Davis added 13 for the Lady Wolves (19-2) on Saturday in Danielsville.

Joyclyn Kinsey was also in double digits with 11 points for Buford, which visits Greater Atlanta Christian for the Region 6A-AA subregion championship on Tuesday in Lilburn.

BUFORD BOYS 50, MADISON COUNTY 41: The Wolves play again Tuesday at Greater Atlanta Christian in Region 6A-AA play.

COMMERCE GIRLS 50, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 37:
The Lady Lions (2-20, 1-13 8-A) were led by Taylor Handte’s 20 points in Commerce. The Lady Tigers’ Jaz Grier led all scorers with 23 points and Vanessa Chandler had 17.

Lakeview Academy hosts Tallulah Falls at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

COMMERCE BOYS 50, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 49: Tyler Gamble hit a 3-pointer with four seconds left to give the Tigers the win in Commerce. Gamble led the Tigers with 16 points and Anthony Norris had 14 points.

The Lions (12-11, 5-2 8-A) were led by a game-high 21 points from Jackson Wells and play Tallulah Falls at home 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

OCONEE COUNTY GIRLS 55, JOHNSON 50: The Lady Knights (14-10, 8-3 8-AAA) were led by Caitlin Sloan’s 20 points, six rebounds and three steals and Ryleigh Shannon’s eight assists on Saturday in Oakwood.

Johnson visits Gainesville at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

JOHNSON BOYS 74, OCONEE COUNTY 62: Matt Hollis’ 22 points helped Johnson to the home win. Cam Schofield had 17 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Knights (11-13, 3-8 8B-AAA), and Ty Odem had 16 points.

Oconee County’s Byron Stufken led all scorers with 27 points, and Dustin Phillips had 21 points.

UNION COUNTY BOYS 52, RABUN COUNTY 39: Seth Merritt scored 12 points for the Panthers (19-2) and Zach Odom 10 on Saturday.

Union County can secure the second seed from Region 8A-AA with a win Tuesday at Dawson County, along with a Rabun County loss against East Hall.

RABUN COUNTY GIRLS 54, UNION COUNTY 46: Holli Abernathy scored 17 and Becka Merritt added 12 for the Lady Panthers (10-11) on Saturday.

Union County hosts Dawson on Tuesday in Blairsville.
