Riverside tennis defeats East Hall

Top No. 1 doubles team of Eric Chow and Drew Eidison recorded a 6-0, 6-1 victory for Riverside Military in a 3-2 win against East Hall on Wednesday in Gainesville. The duo of Josh Haushton and Nic Pitchon at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles player Tyler Clortz added wins for the Eagles.

Dane Allen had a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Vikings and Patricio Cruz added a 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.

The Eagles visits Athens Academy at 4 p.m. Thursday, and East Hall hosts Fannin County at 4 p.m. March 1.

JOHNSON BOYS 4, JACKSON COUNTY 1: Drew Jones and Oscar Rivera recorded wins for the Knights (2-3, 1-2 Region 8-AAA South) at No. 1 and No. 2 singles Wednesday. Jacob Holland and Justin Head won at No. 1 doubles for Johnson, and Jacob Horne and Adam Holland at No. 2 doubles.

The Knights visit Gainesville at 4 p.m. Thursday at Longwood Park.

JOHNSON GIRLS 5, JACKSON COUNTY 0: Ashley Hogan and Karina Rivera fought back from one set down to win 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 in No. 1 doubles for the Lady Knights on Wednesday in Gainesville. Maggie Turner recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles for Johnson.

The Lady Knights host Gainesville at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Baseball

DAWSON COUNTY 8, CHESTATEE 1: Logan Bart went 2 for 3 and Colton Chester went 2 for 4 for the Tigers on Tuesday.

Hunter Sander went 1 for 2 with an RBI for the War Eagles and Jordan London went 1 for 2 with a run.

Dawson County visits Lumpkin County at 11 a.m. Saturday for a doubleheader, and Chestatee visits Rabun County at 5 p.m. Monday.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY 6, SAINT FRANCIS 6: Christian Phares and Tristan Wiggins went 2 for 4 for the Eagles on Wednesday night in Alpharetta before the game was called in the seventh inning due to darkness. Zayne Stinger went 1 for 3 for Riverside.

The Eagles visit Glascock County at 5 p.m. Thursday in Gibson.

WEST HALL 15, EAST HALL 7: Jake Shirley led the Spartans going 3 for 4 at bat with three runs and three RBIs and also picked up the win pitching on Tuesday. Lincoln Stubbs went 3 for 4, and T.J. Williams went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for West Hall.

Austin Tompkins went 3 for 4 for the Vikings and Jon Smith had two hits.

The Spartans hosts East Hall at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Oakwood.

Soccer

RIVERSIDE MILITARY 2, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 0: Sophomore Ryan Marcano scored both goals for the Eagles on Wednesday night in Lexington.

The Eagles host Galloway High at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 8, PICKENS 0: Sophomore Carly Kenny and freshman Amy Groth each had four goals and one assist for the Lady Lions (1-1) on Wednesday in Gainesville. Marcelle Zavala recorded her first shutout of the year for Lakeview with eight saves.

The Lady Lions host Aquanis at 5:30 p.m. Friday

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 1, PICKENS 1: Sophomore Nathan Zottnick scored on an assist from Alex Oliver for the Lions (0-0-1) on Wednesday night in Gainesville. Dalton Snyder recorded six saves for Lakeview.

The Lions host Aquanis at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 11, ATHENS ACADEMY 1: Hartley Carter scored four goals for the Lady Red Elephants (2-1) Wednesday night in Gainesville. Elizabeth Fischer and Jazmin Penado added two goals each for the Lady Red Elephants and Liza Carpenter finished with one goal and three assists.

Gainesville hosts Stephens County at 5:30 p.m. Friday at City Park Stadium.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 2, STEPHENS COUNTY 0: Alex Lawson and Kelsey Underwood each scored for the Lady Trojans (1-2, 1-0 Region 8-AAA) Monday night in Gainesville. Alden Powell recorded the shutout for North Hall.

The Lady Trojans visit Dawson County at 7 p.m. Friday.
