The Johnson High girls overcame a sluggish first half scoring with 20 fourth-quarter points to force overtime in a 59-49 win in the Region 8-AAA tournament play-in game against Monroe Area on Saturday at Lanier High in Sugar Hill.
With the win, the Lady Knights (6-20) advance in the region tournament to visit Stephens County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Toccoa.
Harlee Robson led Johnson with 30 points, and the Knights outscored Monroe Area 13-3 in overtime.
Natoyia Randolph scored 12 points and pulled in four rebounds for Johnson.
RABUN GAP GIRLS 70, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 43: Taylor Handte scored 11 points for the Lakeview Academy girls (16-9, 10-4) and Kaylee McClendon added seven in a loss to Rabun Gap on Saturday in Clayton.
Rabun Gap took control of the game by outscoring the Lady Lions 24-10 in the first period.
Lakeview Academy, seeded second in Region 8-A, opens the region tournament against the No. 3 from the South Subregion at 4 p.m. Wednesday at George Walton Academy.
