Jenny Edwards fueled East Hall’s girls basketball team with 14 points in a 76-43 win against Fannin County in the first round of the Region 7-AAA tournament on Tuesday in Homer. With the win, the Lady Vikings clinched a berth in the Class AAA state tournament.
Jatasia Bailey, Ashlyn Ellison and Kylah Mize each notched 12 points for the Lady Vikings, who play in the next round of the tournament at 4 p.m. on Friday in Carnesville.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 64, TALLULAH FALLS 38: Hanna Grogan racked up 30 points for the Lady Lions in the Region 8-A quarterfinals on Tuesday at Prince Avenue Christian in Athens.
Emma House and Maddie Blackburn each added eight points for Lakeview Academy (17-8), which plays in the tournament semifinals at 4 p.m. on Friday in Athens.
RABUN COUNTY BOYS 76, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 60: Avery Cagle led the Eagles with 21 points in the Region 8-AA tournament on Tuesday.
Chris Howard added 19 points for Riverside Military, which finishes the season 6-16.
BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 59, LUMPKIN COUNTY 38: Kaitlyn Duncan powered the Lady Leopards with 18 points in the Region 7-AAA tournament on Tuesday in Homer. With the win, the Leopards secured a spot in the Class AAA state tournament.
Jody Milford tallied nine points on three 3s for Banks County (22-4), which continues play in the region tournament on Friday.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 3, CHESTATEE 1: Carmen Wagner scored the first goal of the game and the 2015 season for the Lady Lions on Tuesday.
Wagner scored her second goal in the second half off a free kick from Amber Trip.
Wagner assisted on Meredith Tucker’s first high school goal in the first half, and Tucker assisted on Wagner’s opening goal.
Ansley Rochester earned the win in goal. Taylor Buffington scored for Chestatee.
RIVERSIDE MILITARY 2, LUMPKIN COUNTY 1: Guillermo Cruz and Javier Carus scored for the Eagles in the season opener on Tuesday.
EAST HALL BOYS 3, MONROE AREA 0: Leo Toledo scored two goals, and Brian Galvez added a third to help the Vikings to their first win of the regular season.
East Hall will take on Central Gwinnett at home on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
