High School Scoreboard: Eddins leads Chestatee to big win

Chestatee’s Elizabeth Eddins powered the Lady War Eagles to a 16-0 region win in three innings over West Hall Tuesday.

Eddins was 3 for 3 at the plate with three runs scored and two RBIs. In the circle, she pitched all three innings, giving up only five hits while striking out three.

Chestatee’s (15-4, 2-4 Region 7-AAAA) Danielle Ortega also scored three runs in the game with two hits and an RBI.

Georgia Patterson scored two runs on one hit. Hannah Jones scored twice and added two hits with an RBI. Cheyenne Roper totaled three hits with two runs scored and an RBI.

Chestatee plays Dawson County at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Dawsonville.

EAST HALL 4, GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN 0: Carley Cox went 2-4, sparking East Hall to a Region 7-AAA victory in seven innings against Greater Atlanta Christian on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Lady Vikings’(10-6, 7-2 7-AAA) starting pitcher Macy Banks kept Greater Atlanta Christian off the scoreboard for all seven innings in a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits while striking out three.

The game’s last lead went to East Hall thanks to a fifth-inning rally which saw four runs cross the plate on a fielder’s choice by Banks and singles by Abigail Brown, Makayla Wilson and Peyton Turner.

East Hall plays Union County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Blairsville.

NORTH HALL 8, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0: Macy Clark was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs for the Lady Trojans in Tuesday’s 7-AAA region victory. North Hall’s (8-6, 8-1 7-AAA) Ashlyn Brewster finshed 3 for 4 with an RBI, two runs scored and stole two bases. Lady Trojans Charli Shepheard was 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Carson Negley was 1 for 2 with one run and Kelsey Garland was 2 for 2.

Niki Carver pitched two perfect innings for North Hall before Shepheard took over. Shepheard picked up the win by allowing only one hit and three walks over the final four innings.

The Lady Trojans return to Dahlonega Wednesday to face Buford at the University of North Georgia.

VOLLEYBALL

JOHNSON 2, FLOWERY BRANCH 0: Johnson’s Emma Hernandez led the attack with 10 kills in a Area 8-AAAAA straight-set victory over Flowery Branch, (25-20, 27-25). Lady Knight Samantha Summerville added eight kills for the night. Johnson’s (13-11, 2-1 Region 8-AAAAA) Julia Bowers finished with 15 digs. Emily Pena totaled eight digs, while Kellie Tran had four blocks. Alivia Farley also dished a team-high 14 assists in the Lady Knights attack, and Johnson’s Grace Eidson added six kills and 10 assists.

Johnson travels to White County on Thursday.

Flowery Branch’s (14-4, 0-3 8-AAAAA) Jena Killian led the attack with eight kills and one block. Fellow Lady Falcon Madison Dowdy finished the night with four kills and two service aces.

Flowery Branch has a tri-match with Lumpkin County and Pickens County on Thursday in Dahlonega.

WEST HALL TAKES TRI-MATCH: West Hall’s Ruby Guerrero led the attack with eight kills to lead the Lady Spartans to victories over Chestatee and White County on Tuesday. The Lady Spartans beat Chestatee in straight sets (25-21, 25-12). Cadie Shirley followed with five kills, while Shelbie Conde led from the back line with four service aces. Reagan Horton also totaled nine digs, while Makayla Courson dished 13 assists.

West Hall defeated White County in three sets (27-25, 16-25, 25-21). Ashley Alverson led the Spartans’ defense with five blocks. Teammate Shelbie Conde tallied three aces, and Makayla Courson aided the offense with 17 assists.

West Hall (10-15, 2-0 Area 7-AAA) hosts Dawson County and Forsyth Central on Thursday in a tri-match.

NORTH HALL WINS TRI-MATCH AGAINST GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN AND LUMPKIN COUNTY: North Hall’s Autumn Tucker led the offense with 19 kills, two aces, eight digs and contributed to the defense with a block in Tuesday’s tri-match. North Hall defeated Greater Atlanta Christian in straight sets (25-22, 25-20) before defeating Lumpkin County in the same fashion, (25-7, 25-7). Lily Paschall helped with 41 assists, six kills and 18 digs. Mellissa DeVerter racked up 14 kills, three blocks and seven digs. Caroline Brady totaled seven kills, 10 aces, while Lena Strickland tallied 18 digs and two aces.

North Hall (15-7, 2-0 Area 7-AAA) plays North Forsyth on Thursday.

BUFORD WINS TRI-MATCH AGAINST CLARKE CENTRAL AND CEDAR SHOALS: Avery Cason totaled four kills and six aces in a match against Cedar Shoals. Buford beat Cedar Shoals in two sets (25-6, 25-8). Buford Halston Hillier added four kills as well.

The Lady Wolves’ Gabby Curry and Tatum Shipes totaled six kills each in a win against Clarke Central. Buford won its match against Clarke Central in straight sets (25-11, 25-6). Buford’s Curry led the team with 13 digs. Lady Wolf Morgan Mitchell helped Buford with 12 assists.

Buford (7-2, 4-0 Area 8-AAAAA). Buford hosts Peachtree Ridge, Discovery and Dacula at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Buford.

CHESTATEE DROPS TRI-MATCH AGAINST WHITE COUNTY AND WEST HALL: Madelynn Woodard led the Lady War Eagles’ attack with nine kills and 15 assists in the losing effort against White County and West Hall. Chestatee lost in two sets against White County (25-18, 25-17). They lost in the same fashion against West Hall (25-21, 25-12). Lady War Eagle Anna Bryce finished the night with one kill and eight assists. Sophie Davis tallied one kill, one assist and 11 digs.

Chestatee plays Winder-Barrow Thursday.
