High school scoreboard: East Hall girls 48, Pickens 45

Down by two points entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Vikings scored 17 points while holding off Pickens to squeak by with a Region 7-AAA tournament win Wednesday in Ellijay

With the win, East Hall (20-7) clinches a spot in the Class AAA state playoffs.

Jasmine Jenkins led the Lady Vikings with 12 points. Lindsay Hammontree scored 13 points for Pickens, while Lindsay Logan and Jamie Waterman added 10.

East Hall faces Gilmer in the Class 7-AAA quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Friday at Chestatee High.

Dawson County boys 58, Banks County 47

Jacob Evans led four Dawson County double-digit scorers with 15 points in the Tigers win Wednesday night in the Region 8-AA tournament.

As a result of its victory, Dawson will make its third straight appearance in the Class AA state playoffs.

"This is a big night here in Dawsonville," Tigers coach Thad Burgess said.

Holding a one-point lead at the half, Dawson outscored the Leopards by 10 in the second half to ensure its fifth straight win.

Stephen Scaife had 14 points for the Tigers, Blythe Chester and Caleb Holbrook added 11 each.
Banks County was led by Kasey Hudgins with 14 points.

The Tigers continue play in the region tournament at 5:30 p.m. Friday against Union County at Rabun County High School.

North Oconee girls 55, Dawson County 27 (Tuesday)

The Lady Tigers season came to an end Tuesday night with their loss to North Oconee.

Erin Gordon was the leading scorer for Dawson with six points.

Jessica Watson led North Oconee with 16.
