Johnson boys rally past West Hall

Johnson overcome an early double-digit hole with a dominating fourth quarter to secure a 72-54 win against West Hall on Saturday. The Knights (8-0) trailed 19-9 after the first quarter, but cut the deficit to five points by halftime.
Johnson secured the win with a 33-9 scoring edge in the fourth quarter.

Roderick English led the Knights with 29 points and seven rebounds, while Ty Cockfield finished with 16.

Senior Montrell McKenzie finished with his eighth consecutive double-double, scoring 12 points with 13 rebounds.

Hunter Atkinson led West Hall with 14 points and Ty Cantrell finished with 13.

WEST HALL GIRLS 51, JOHNSON 23: The Lady Spartans’ Jensen Hall scored a team-high eight points on Saturday. Haley Haynes, Kaelyn Gattis and Mia Booker each chipped in seven points. Brittany Green scored a game-high nine for the Lady Knights.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY 81, TALLULAH FALLS 56: Adrian Humphrey scored a team-high 23 points for Riverside on Saturday. Jake Weiner finished with 18 for the Eagles and Lavelle Campbell tallied 12. Gabe Fraser finished with 11 rebounds for the Eagles.

WINDER-BARROW BOYS 49, GAINESVILLE 48: Luke Maddox scored 13 for the Red Elephants and Luke Moore added 12 on Saturday.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 46, FORSYTH CENTRAL 25: Erin Clifford led the Lady War Eagles with 14 points, while Maegan Kenimer chipped in 11 on Saturday. Chestatee jumped to a fast start, leading 17-3 after the opening quarter. Chestatee led 20-10 at halftime.

BUFORD GIRLS 65, TIFT COUNTY 36: Mackenzie Darrah led the Lady Wolves with 18 points and Kaela Davis chipped in 12 on Saturday in Tifton. The Lady Wolves led 15-13 after the first quarter and extended their lead to 33-25 by halftime.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 59, DACULA 32: The Lady Falcons had three scorers in double figures on Saturday in Flowery Branch. Tavia Sykes led Flowery Branch with 14 points, while Marissa Ivey and Jacy Ramey each chipped in 11.

DACULA BOYS 59, FLOWERY BRANCH 52: Nick Wayne scored all 15 points off of 3 pointers to lead the Falcons (0-6, 0-4 Region 8-AAAAA) on Saturday. Cody Dewing finished with 13 for Flowery Branch, while Jamaad Stephens and Darius Curry each finished with 10 points.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 47, COMMERCE 24: Kaitlyn Duncan scored 16 points for the Lady Leopards and Taylor Kennedy added nine on Saturday in Homer.

UNION COUNTY GIRLS 58, LUMPKIN COUNTY 32: Lauren Zollinger scored a game-high 16 points and Carly Adams added 11 for the Lady Panthers. Morgan Wood finished with 10 points and Dakota Sullens scored nine for Lumpkin County.

UNION COUNTY BOYS 50, LUMPKIN COUNTY 44: Daniel McCrary and Jacob Haskel scored 12 points each for the Indians on Saturday.

DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 51, PACELLI 20: Will Anglin led all scorers for the Tigers (5-0) with a game-high 19 points on Saturday in Dawsonville. Otis Lewis scored 12 for Pacelli.

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 72, PACELLI 14: Carly Gilreath led the Lady Tigers (4-1) with 19 points on Saturday in Dawsonville. Whitney Glover and Alison Honea scored 10 each

APALACHEE BOYS 66, FLOWERY BRANCH 41 (FRIDAY): Jamaad Stephens led Flowery Branch with 22 points in a loss to Apalachee on Friday.

Wrestling
The East Hall High wrestling picked up two wins against Fannin County and Murphy (N.C.) in the Rumble on the Ridge in Blue Ridge.  The Vikings’ only loss was to open the day against Dawson County (52-27) at Fannin County High.
