High school scoreboard: Chestatee goes 2-1 in four-team match

The Chestatee High wrestling team finished 2-1 in a four-team meet against Riverside Military, Flowery Branch and Johnson on Wednesday in Oakwood.

The War Eagles defeated the Eagles 42-33 on a match-winning pin by 145-pound freshman Nathaniel Peck.

Chestatee also beat the Knights 75-6 and lost to the Falcons 48-24.

Cam Phillips (152 pounds), Conner Comeaux (130) and Andy Etris (171) each went undefeated, finishing the night 3-0 for the War Eagles.

Chestatee plays host to East Hall at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Flowery Branch plays host to the Falcon Invitational at 8 a.m. Saturday. Johnson and Riverside will participate in the Panther Invitational at 5 p.m. Friday at Jackson County.

West Hall sweeps four-team meet (Tuesday)

The West Hall wrestling team swept a four-team match against Salem, Meadowcreek and Norcross on Tuesday in Norcross.

In the Spartans’ 54-24 win against Norcross, Tanner Yates, Logan Herford, Andrew Johnson, Diego Rivero, Rudy Vazquez, Keith Wallace, Chris Price and Lee Fyfe each had pins.

Yates, Herford, Rivero, Vazquez, Wallace, Price and Fyfe also had pins in a 48-31 win against Salem.

In West Hall’s 54-20 win against Meadowcreek, Yates, Herford, Johnson, Rivero, Vazquez, Fyfe, Collins Wright and Ricardo Macilla each pinned their opponents.

West Hall visits Athens Christian at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Habersham Central girls 47, Monroe Area 35 (Tuesday)

Amber Dodd earned a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds on Tuesday night in Monroe.

Maile Stephenson led the Lady Raiders (1-1) with 13 points. Lauren Anderson added five points and 13 rebounds.

Habersham Central plays host to Heritage at 7 p.m. Friday.

North Georgia Christian boys 80, Covenant Christian 51 (Tuesday)

Trey Redmond led the Chargers with 31 points on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Ashton Wright scored 15 points and Tyler Harney added 11 points for North Georgia Christian.

North Georgia Christian plays host to Mt. Zion Christian in Jonesboro at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
