Hunter Carter scored in the 18th minute on a penalty kick for North Hall’s boys for a 1-0 win against Lumpkin County on Monday. Alec Zimmerman drew the foul, which made Carter’s shot possible.
On Friday, North Hall (1-2-2) visits Dawson County at 7:30 p.m. in Dawsonville.
Baseball
WEST FORSYTH 5, NORTH HALL 4: Tabor Mongero, Austin Adams and Jackson Latty each had a pair of hits for the Trojans as they fell to the Wolverines in eight innings on Monday.
Mason McWhorter went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for West Forsyth.
It was North Hall’s third consecutive extra-inning game.
Tennis
GAINESVILLE BOYS 3, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 2: Jackson Fox clinched the match with a 9-8 (7-2 in the tiebreak) singles victory on Monday.
Also getting wins for the Red Elephants were Reagan Williams in singles and the team of Thomas Carter and Max Wuest in doubles.
Gainesville (2-0) hosts Flowery Branch today.
NORTH HALL BOYS 5, NORTH FORSYTH 0: Jackson Davis, Dalton Patterson and Reid Lattanzi won their singles matches.
Paxton Gillespie/Matthew Chewning and Dawson Smith/Daniel Martin got the wins in the doubles matches. North Hall (3-0) hosts Buford on Wednesday.
NORTH HALL GIRLS 5, NORTH FORSYTH 0: Courtney Barnes, Christen Barnes and Annalise Gregory won their singles matches.
MaKenzie Bryant/Lauren Davis and Brooke Rogers/Carson McCormack earned doubles wins for the Lady Trojans.
North Hall hosts Buford on Wednesday.
Track and field
The Gainesville High track and field team won the Gary Matthews Invitational on Saturday at Oglethorpe County High in Lexington. Riverside Military finished in fourth place.
Gainesville’s Hunter Mallard won the pole vault competition 14 feet, 6 inches, three feet better than his nearest competitor.
Freshman Daniel Ruiz finished first in the boys 3200 meter race with a time of 10 minutes, 39.02 seconds. Fellow Red Elephant Miguel Lopez (10:40.17) and JaQuay Thompson (11:26) finished second and fifth respectively.
The Gainesville High team of Nick Anderson, Manuel Remes, Kadarious Smith, Kamden Young and Zarian Brawner won the boys 400-meter relay with a time of 45.22 seconds. Riverside’s team of Onyx Knox, Moleik Campbell, Dimnwaobi Charles and Anthony Egbase finished runner-up with a time of 45.63 seconds.
Gainesville’s Myron Dabney (54.78) and Cameron Sturdivant (55.03) finished third and fourth in the boys 400 dash. Riverside Military’s Onyx Knox (56.99) finished in sixth place.
In the boys 100, Riverside Military’s Dimnwaobi Charles (11.73) finished runner-up with teammate Anthony Egbase (11.98) finishing sixth. Sandwiched between the two Eagles were Wenslo Cherismo (third place, 11.83) and Kamden Young (fifth place, 11.91) of Gainesville.
Gainesville High’s Micah Moss finished second in the boys 800 with a time of 2:15.78, and teammate Brooks Magahey finishing fourth with a time of 2:18.33.
Cameron Sturdivant (23.74) won the 200 meter dash for the Red Elephants. Also for Gainesville, Smith (24.50) finished fourth, and Riverside Military’s Antonio Copeland (24.58) finished fifth.
Gainesville’s Manuel Remes (43.20) finished runner-up in the boys 300 hurdles.
Daniel Ruiz (5:00.78) and Miguel Lopez (5:05.51) finished 1-2 for Gainesville in the 1600 meter run with Riverside Military’s Brad Porter (5:06.78) finishing in third place.
Riverside Military’s Jarues Bong Dibongue (5-10) and Dimnwaobi Charles (5-10) finished second and third in the boys high jump. Gainesville’s Issac Teasley (17-08) and Manuel Remes (17-02) finished second and fourth in the boys long jump.
Nick Anderson (37-11.50) finished fourth for the Red Elephants in the boys triple jump.
In the boys discus, Gainesville’s Tyreke Watson (101-05) finished runner-up, while Riverside’s Quinten Monroe (100) and Prince James E. Story (96-02) finished in third and fourth place.
Riverside Military’s Story (41-10) finished runner-up in the boys shot put. Gainesville’s Watson (39-11) finished fifth.
Golf
GAINESVILLE GIRLS 163, CHESTATEE 192: The Lady Red Elephants next play West Hall on Wednesday at Royal Lakes Country Club.
