High school scoreboard: Buford tops Titans

Class AA’s top-ranked Buford softball team defeated Blessed Trinity 11-3 on Tuesday at the Region 6-AA tournament in Roswell.

Melissa Dickie (6-1) got the win in the pitching circle for the Wolves (17-4, 6-0 Region 6-AA) with 10 stikeouts, five allowed hits and two earned runs.

Buford’s Alysha Rudnik hit a two-run home run in her only official plate appearance and had a pair of RBIs and three runs scored.

Karly Fullem went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and added a pair of RBI’s for the Wolves, Kallie Case went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Lexi Overstreet went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Buford returns to tournament play at 5 p.m. Thursday in Norcross.

Jefferson and Banks County split pair: The Jefferson High softball team won the first game 1-0, but lost the second game 10-2 to Banks County in the Region 8-AA softball tournament Tuesday in Homer. The deciding third game is at 5 p.m. today.

Kim Thomas led Banks County (20-9) with three hits, drove in three runs and also scored a pair of runs. Ashley Morris added three hits for the Lady Leopards and scored a pair of runs.

Madison Franklin, McKenna Riley, and Hailey Baird each had two hits in the second game for Banks County.

In the first game, Paige Pate had two hits for Jefferson. Anna Alexander and Morgan McKinney each had one hit for the Lady Dragons.

The winner of today's game advances to face Dawson County Saturday in Dawsonville.


North Hall splits at tri-match

The Trojans lost to West Forsyth (25-22, 21-25, 25-20), but came back to get the win over Gainesville (25-10, 25-16) on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Kathryn Bell had 25 assists, five kills, four digs and six aces on the night for North Hall (24-12-2, 8-3 Area 7-AAA), and fellow junior Lauren Gregory had 10 kills, five digs, two blocks and an ace,

Trojans’ Evann Rowland had 10 kills, 10 digs, six aces and two blocks, Sarah Paschall had four kills, four blocks, a dig and an ace.

Anna Marchman had eight kills, three digs, a block and an ace for North Hall, and Haley Panter had five digs, three assists and a kill.

North Hall plays Johnson and Flowery Branch in an Area tournament on Thursday.
