High School Scoreboard: Banks County girls, Lakeview Academy boys pick up basketball wins

Allison Smith scored 11 points to lead the Banks County girls basketball team past Chestatee 57-35 Saturday afternoon. 

Jaycie Bowen and Morgan Rylee both scored 10 each to pace the Lady Leopards (4-1).

Dawndria Bell led the Lady War Eagles with 10 points, Genesis Reyes had seven, and Brooklyn Popham and Lindsey Caudell both chipped in six for Chestatee (3-3).

Banks next hosts West Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

NORTH OCONEE GIRLS 65, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 59: Hanna Grogan led the Lady Lions with 26 points in a loss to the Lady Titans.

Ryann Moody scored 13 points for Lakeview. The Lady Lions next host Union County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.


Drew Cottrell scored 25 points, Josh Randolph added 19, and the Lakeview Academy boys basketball team romped to 77-55 home win over North Oconee on Saturday.

Carter Reeves added 10 rebounds and Daniel Fadool had six assists for the Lions (3-1). Lakeview next hosts Union County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

WHITE COUNTY 62, MARIST 51: Whit Mauney scored 27 points to lead White County to a win.

The Warriors (6-1) next host Towns County on Tuesday.

Brad Hurst scored 16 points for White County, while Patrick Zeck scored 17 points for Marist.

WESLEYAN 68, RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 50: Davis Short scored 19 points, including seven in the fourth quarter, for the Eagles in Saturday’s loss.

Sipho Khoza scored 11 for Riverside, while Kaseem Duke and Juwan Thompson both chipped in six.

BANKS COUNTY 66, CHESTATEE 50: Zac Orr scored 26 points to lead the Leopards to a convincing win over Chestatee. Banks next hosts West Hall on Tuesday.

Clay Target Sports State Championship

Lakeview Academy’s Samantha Simonton won state titles in sporting clay and skeet disciplines Saturday evening at the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah.

She also collected second-place in the trap discipline, and was named to the first-team. She was given the highest overall girls score.

Simonton, a junior, has won state titles in each year at Lakeview Academy.
