North Hall volleyball sweeps playdate

The No. 10 North Hall volleyball team swept a playdate with Central Gwinnett at Lanier on Tuesday in straight games, 2-0, 2-0.

Kathryn Bell had 21 assists and three aces on the day for the Lady Trojans, who beat Central Gwinnett 25-15, 25-19 and Lanier 25-14, 25-14.

Madison Copeland also had three aces, all of which came in a six-serve run. Copeland also added six kills and a block while Lauren Gregory had nine kills, two aces and 11 digs. Sarah Paschall led North Hall with 12 digs and also chipped in a block.

North Hall (6-4, 3-0 Region 8-AAA) visits Lumpkin County at 5 p.m., Thursday.

JOHNSON 3, CHESTATEE 1: The Lady Knights won at home Thursday by scores of 25-21, 25-11, 23-25 and 25-18.

Kellsie Brisbois had eight aces with three digs, while Brittany Panter had nine aces and five assists. Caitlin Sloan played strong on the net, racking up seven kills and five blocks and Britt Mimbs collected nine assists in the match for Johnson (4-7).

The Lady Knights visit North Gwinnett at 6 p.m., Thursday for a playdate with Chamblee.

JEFFERSON LOSES TWO, FLOWERY BRANCH WINS ONE AT HEBRON CHRISTIAN: Despite ten kills from Taylor Cramsey and nine from Cassie Metcalf, the Lady Dragons lost in straight games to Hebron and Flowery Branch on Tuesday. Jefferson (8-3, 1-0 Region 8-AA/A) lost both matches by scores of 25-16, 25-19.

Brianna Patterson had two kills and two aces, while Sarah Wood added two kills for Jefferson. Amanda Daniel had 13 assists for the Lady Dragons who next play at 6 p.m., Thursday at Rabun County.

In the win over Jefferson, Alexis Love had 10 kills and Kenzie Grewett had 14 assists to lead the Lady Falcons. Brittani Hill added four kills and Katherine McMillin had three aces.

Flowery Branch lost to Hebron Christian, 25-13, 15-17, in their second match of the day. Grewett had three aces, while Tavia Sykes had four blocks. Amber Merchant and Hill each added three blocks for Flowery Branch (2-2, 1-0 Region 8-AAAA), which plays host to North Forsyth and Salem at 5 p.m. Thursday.

BUFORD WINS TRI-MATCH AT LAMBERT:
Liz Darden had 23 digs and Maggie Roper had 18 kills to lead the Lady Wolves to wins over Lambert (25-15, 25-12) and Alpharetta (25-20, 25-2) on Tuesday. Jenna Falletta led the team in assists with 16 and Jessica Falletta put together a 14-point service run with six aces to give her 28 total serves won for Buford (10-2).

The Lady Wolves play host to Hebron Christian and Brookwood at 5 p.m., Thursday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY WINS TWO MATCHES AT HOME: Mona Abraham had three aces to lead the Lady Lions over Athens Christian, 2-1 (19-25, 25-16, 25-21) on Tuesday in Gainesville.

In the second game, Lakeview defeated East Jackson, 2-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-15), and was led by Jamie Nixon and Lauren Lewallen, who each had three kills. Molly Gay had seven assists for Lakeview (5-7), which plays host to a tri-match with East Hall and North Oconee at 5 p.m., Thursday.

Softball

WEST HALL 10, JOHNSON 2: Miranda Miller threw all five innings Tuesday, striking out five and giving up two hits, as the Lady Spartans improved their record to 2-2 overall, 1-1 in Region 8B-AAA.

Miller and Morgan Strickland were the only Lady Spartans to have a multi-hit game; each of them had two hits with Strickland chipping in three RBIs.

West Hall will play Gainesville at 5:55 p.m., Thursday at Lanier Point.
