Kallie Case had three hits, two triples, four runs scored and an RBI on Wednesday as the Buford High softball team opened play in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational with two games at West Jackson Park.
In Game 1, Karly Fullem threw a one-hit, complete-game shutout against Central Gwinnett as the Lady Wolves won 5-0. Chelsie Thomas went 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases.
Case had a triple, and RBI and two runs scored in Game 1. Kodi Ricketson added a double and a run scored and Lexi Overstreet had an RBI for Buford.
The Lady Wolves only managed four hits against Oconee County in Game 2, losing 6-2 in six innings.
Case went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored., but only Aly Hicks and Lindsey Puckett managed to get a hit. Buford (1-1, 0-0 Region 6A-AA) will continue with the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational at 5 p.m. today against Peachtree Ridge at West Jackson Park.
Volleyball
JEFFERSON 2, TALLULAH FALLS 0: The Jefferson Lady Dragons won in straight games (25-20, 25-20) at
Tallulah Falls on Tuesday.
Taylor Cramsey led Jefferson with six kills while Sarah Wood had five. Amanda Daniel added 13 assists for Jefferson (6-1, 1-0 Area 8-A/AA) and Cassie Metcalf had three aces. The Lady Dragons will next travel to a playdate with George Walton at Archer. The first game is set to begin 6 tonight.
